Russia will firmly defend its interests, President Putin says during Victory Day Parade

Moscow: Russia had defeated the Nazi regime in Germany in World War II. This day is celebrated as the ‘Victory Day’ in Russia. During a military parade organised on occasion in capital Moscow, President Putin said Russia would not back down on any issue in a message to the United States and other Western nations. At the same time, the Russian president also condemned the growing support for anti-Russian and Nazi ideologies. Also, Putin assured that Russia would firmly defend its interests.

‘Attempts are being made to rewrite history, to justify traitors and criminals, on whose hands lies the blood of hundreds of thousands of peaceful people. Unfortunately, many of the ideologies of the Nazis, those who were obsessed with the delusional theory of their exclusiveness, are again trying to be put into service. Voices, raising slogans of ethnic and nationalist supremacy; support rhetoric of anti-Semitism and Russophobia, are rising,” Putin warned. Disagreements between the United States and Israel over Iran’s nuclear program have intensified. President Putin’s remarks amid such conditions assume much significance.

‘The Soviet people kept their sacred oath, defended the homeland and freed the countries of Europe from the black plague. Russia has consistently complied with international laws and regulations. While doing so, Russia has firmly defended its interests for the safety of its people,” Russian President Vladimir Putin firmly reassured.

In the last few months, tensions between Russia and the West have worsened. The United States has imposed sanctions on Russia, claiming it was responsible for the cyberattacks. At the same time, it has also taken aggressive decisions based on Russia’s actions against Putin’s opponent Alexei Navalny, the Nord Stream gas pipeline and Ukraine.

European countries have also taken a stance against Russian on the Navalny case and Ukraine issue. At the same time, incidents have been reported where Russian officials were accused of spying and thereby expelled. Russia has therefore issued a warning and said the relations between Russia and Europe had been strained, and Europe will be responsible if they break.

In the wake of the dispute with the West, Putin’s appeal on Victory Day on protecting Russia’s interests indicates Russia’s aggressive policy.
