Chinese aircraft carrier holds naval exercise in the Pacific region between Japan and Taiwan

Beijing – As per the information surfaced, the Chinese Liaoning aircraft carrier has conducted exercises in the maritime area within Japan and Taiwan, a part of the Pacific Ocean region. Japan’s Defense Ministry confirmed that four destroyers and a supply ship, alongside a Chinese aircraft carrier, had participated in the exercise. At this time, Chinese fighter jets were also reported to have participated in this exercise. The exercise of China’s aircraft carrier demonstrated the growing combat capability of China’s Defense Forces, has been claimed by the analysts. A few days ago, it had been revealed that China bombers had used high-explosive aerial bombs and sea bottom mines near the Taiwan region.

Over the past few years, the US has decided to increase its security deployment in the Indo-Pacific region to curb China’s growing expansionist activities. Moreover, efforts are being made to involve other allies alongside partner countries in this decision. Countries like Australia, India, United Kingdom, France and Canada have been involved in this US Indo-Pacific front. Having sent their warships to the Indo-Pacific region, these countries have also undergone joint naval exercises. A few days ago, a German warship also sailed the South China Sea near China along the Indo-Pacific.

This front of the US has been a major obstacle to China’s ruling regime. The Chinese regime has been consistently trying to suppress and threaten the countries on this front in various ways. Besides, it has been trying to stop the movements of the US and its allies near Taiwan and has begun increasing the number of exercises in the Indo-Pacific region.

Even in April, Chinese aircraft carriers patrolled from the maritime area of Japan and Taiwan. At this time, a warning had also been issued to Japan by sending a fighter jet near Japan’s Senkaku Island. Subsequently, Russian and Chinese navies had conducted joint patrols in the maritime area that is part of the Sea of Japan in October. At this time, Russia and China’s warships entering the Pacific Ocean via the Sea of Japan had been reported by both countries. It had surfaced that a Chinese destroyer had conducted ‘anti-submarine drills’ in the Pacific region earlier this month.

China’s new practice in the Pacific Ocean is seeking attention against this backdrop. During the practice, along with the J-15 fighter jets stationed on Chinese aircraft carriers, Z-9 and Z-18 helicopters had been said to have demonstrated their capabilities. The Japanese Defense Ministry has clarified that it has sent its two warships to monitor this exercise. Meanwhile, the US Navy has informed that a joint US-Australian naval exercise was held in the Indo-Pacific region near Australia while this exercise of China was underway.
