Bakhmut in Donbas is a strategically important city and its control is essential for the control of the Donetsk region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Russia’s attacks on Bakhmut as the city was bloodied. The President of Ukraine also pointed out that last year more than 70 thousand citizens lived in this city, but now there are only a few hundred citizens in the city. Although the Russian forces managed to enter the territory of the city of Bakhmut, they did not gain full control. Local agencies and sources informed that ‘urban warfare’ is happening in many parts of the city.

Ukraine claims that this city is a stronghold of Ukrainian forces in Donbas. A few days ago, the President of Ukraine visited this city.
