Moscow/Kyiv – There have been clear indications that the intensity of the Russia-Ukraine conflict will not decrease even in the New Year. Russia launched major missile and drone attacks on Ukraine as the New Year began. These attacks have been conducted in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, and Zhytomyr. In the wake of these attacks, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a speech addressed to the Russian public, supported the military campaign against Ukraine, saying it was necessary to attack Ukraine for its security.
Besides, Russia launched its biggest missile attack on Ukraine last week. Russian armed forces bombarded as many as 120 missiles and drones in Ukraine in the attack on Wednesday and Thursday. Moreover, it targeted major cities in Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv. After that, in just three days, Russia again proved its offensive capabilities by launching an attack with the help of missiles and drones.
After midnight on Saturday, Russia began striking missiles and drones in Kyiv, among other areas. Bombers and warships struck Cruise missiles. Ukraine has reported that Russia has fired 20 Cruise missiles. Attacks were conducted with the help of drones along with missiles. Nearly 45 Iranian-made and Russian drones were said to have been used. Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr, along with the capital Kyiv, were targeted.
Along with these missile and drone attacks, Ukraine informed that the Russian army also attacked the Donbas region. Ukraine reported that the Russian forces launched jarring attacks in Bakhmut, Liman, Kupiansk and Avdiivka. Guns, rockets and mortars have been used for this. Russia’s attacks have signalled that the intensity of the Russia-Ukraine conflict will continue the next year.
In December, Russia had magnified the intensity of its attacks against Ukraine. Russia has launched a continuous attack on the Donbas region and the city of Kherson and has succeeded in stopping the advances of the Ukrainian army. On the other side, Russia has been showing its warfare capability by continuously striking missiles and drones in the vicinity of the capital of Ukraine , Kyiv.
In his address to the public on New Year’s Eve, Russian President Putin assured that Russia would never allow Western efforts to succeed. He also pointed out that the Russian defence forces have been fighting to defend their motherland and the people’s freedom.
