Washington: Russian news channel ‘RT’ alleged that the US military was preparing to take advantage of the climate apocalypse, as a result of the ongoing climate change. A report posted on the Russia state-run RT news website claims, citing the US military’s climate change report that the United States may make extensive military deployments right from the Arctic to Bangladesh.
Only last month, US Army’s new chief James McConville said, “Instead of the US military brigades being stationed in the country, they should be deployed in all corners of the world to remain ready for war,” indicating the United States was preparing for a comprehensive campaign. After that, the US Army has begun preparations to step up its deployment across the world, given the effects of climate change.
The country’s leading researchers and military officials have published a 52-page report for the US Army War College on climate change called the ‘Implications of Climate Change for the US Army‘. The report states the effects of natural and man-made disasters on the military, a forecast of possible developments in association with it and the required military preparations. Also, it talks about the role of the army during natural calamities in the United States as even probable interference in the event of a catastrophe hitting the foreign countries.
The Russian news channel makes a special mention of possible US military deployments in areas from the Arctic to the Asian countries such as Bangladesh. The report recommends the needed for the US Administration to increase its capacities to dominate the Arctic because of the melting icebergs and the enormous amounts of natural resources becoming available in the region. Furthermore, RT says the report even accuses Russia of militarising the area.
The US Army report states that the Asian country of Bangladesh was also under threat due to the rising sea levels. Moreover, the Army War College report voices a likely conflict erupting due to the refugee situation in Bangladesh, compelling the US military deployments in the country to curb it.
