Washington: The United States President Donald Trump has attracted the whole world’s attention with his announcement stating, ‘The United States will take an important decision about Syria in the next 24 to 48 hours’. Discussions have started as to what this important decision could be, as President Trump himself has revealed that there are multiple options available for military action in Syria. Trump has also reprimanded that ‘Even Russia, who has been supporting the Assad government, will have to pay the price if found responsible for the chemical attack in Syria’.
President Trump called for an urgent cabinet meeting in view of the chemical attacks in Syria. After discussions with Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of Defence James Mattis and National Security Advisor John Bolton, President Trump issued the warning to Russia. ‘The chemical attack carried out by the Assad government in Syria, is deplorable and atrocious. The use of chemical weapons that have been banned by the international community, is inhuman and the United States will not tolerate such attacks. The United States is investigating the incident and it is being discussed with military and other concerned officials. We will take an important decision about Syria in the next 24 to 48 hours’, declared Trump.
‘At the same time, if it is found that Russia or even Iran is responsible for the chemical attacks in Syria, each one of them will have to pay a price for it’, said President Trump. Whereas, United States Secretary of Defence said that the option for a military action in Syria was open.
Meanwhile, the media around the world is waiting for the US President’s announcement about Syria. As per the information given by some United States officials to the international media in this context, the United States may attack Syria with the help of President Trump’s allies in Europe and the Middle East. The military locations of the Assad government may be targeted during this action, claimed these officials.
United States will act against Syria with or without the United Nations, US envoy to UN, Nikki Haley
New York: The United States Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley issued a stern warning saying that, ‘Syrian President Assad is a monster and the United States is prepared to act against this monster. The United states will act with or without the United Nations’. At the same time, the United States Ambassador accused Russia of covering up for the Assad government.
‘The United States has shown pictures of children killed in the attacks by the army of Monstrous Assad time and again. It has often reminded the United Nations of its responsibilities towards Syria. But now the international community is waiting for a decision on Syria. History will be a witness to whether the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) discharges its duties towards the Syrian population or backs out from it’, was the criticism showered by United States Ambassador Haley.
Whereas, Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia alleged that ‘the United States and western countries are adopting oppressive policies using criticism, insult, threats, sanctions and announcements of military action against Syria’. The Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia also clarified that ‘Russia is no more interested in being a friend of the United States’.
