Taiwan drives away Chinese fighters intruding into its airspace

Taipei/Beijing: China is growing anxious about the increasing military cooperation between the US and Taiwan and has begun to threaten Taipei. Chinese fighter jets and surveillance aircraft tried to violate the Taiwanese airspace thrice last week. China’s attempts to intrude into the airspace, despite Taiwan chasing off its planes, have drawn much attention.

Chinese fighters, घुसखोरीचे प्रयत्न, लढाऊ विमान, तैवानLast Sunday, China’s Su-30 fighters attempted to violate Taiwanese airspace. Even though Taiwanese planes chased off the Chinese fighter jets, they were back on Sunday and then on Tuesday and briefly entered the island’s Air Defence Identification Zone. On Friday, the Chinese surveillance plane Y-8 intruded into the island’s airspace from the southwest. After that, the Chinese fighter J-10 entered into the airspace as well from the same direction, informed Taiwan.

In both instances, the Chinese aircraft were issued warnings and only then were they chased off the air limits. The Chinese air violation assumes much significance as it occurred thrice in the same week. Even though Chinese aircraft have briefly entered Taiwan’s airspace in the past as well, they have done so from different positions.

The attempts at violating Taiwanese air space are believed to be attributed to the growing US-Taiwan cooperation and the Chinese Communist Party’s policy of domination. Given the current conditions amid the Coronavirus pandemic, China has initiated moves to take control over the South China Sea on the one hand while also taking firm action against Hong Kong and Taiwan on the other. Currently, US-China tensions are boiling over on Taiwan, and Chinese military officials are demanding an attack on the island nation.

Chinese fighters, घुसखोरीचे प्रयत्न, लढाऊ विमान, तैवानThe US has sent three aircraft carriers to the Indo-Pacific region to counter the rising Chinese aggression. Two of these, are said to be in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea regions. However, before that, the US had deployed an advanced destroyer to patrol the Taiwan Strait a few days ago.

At the start of June, Taiwan was believed to have planned to buy the Harpoon missiles from the US. Earlier, the US had reportedly approved the sale of torpedoes to Taiwan. The increasing US activities towards Taiwan’s security have made the Chinese Communist Party nervous, and the repeated violation of Taipei’s airspace appears to be in response to it.
