North Korea warns of retaliation to the US threats with nuclear weapons

Pyongyang/Washington: North Korea has threatened the United States that it would firmly answer to the nuclear and provocative threats from the United States with nuclear weapons alone. North Korea threatened to carry out a nuclear attack since its efforts to find a solution through discussions have allegedly turned futile. While the Koreas mark the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, the North Korean leadership’s warnings indicate sparking of a new war in the region.

North Korea has stated that ‘The North Korean government made all possible efforts to end the constant nuclear threats received from the United States through discussions. It sought the aid of international laws as well, but, the efforts were in vain. The United States has continued to take a stance of hostility against North Korea. Hence, now that North Korea is left with no other option, it will counter the US threats with nuclear attacks’.

The Korean media has informed that North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in its statement, has released this warning. North Korea has warned of further increasing the stock of nuclear weapons to stop the United States. Analysts assert another possibility of conflict in the Korean Peninsula, after the threats issued by North Korea and warning to increase the stock of nuclear weapons.

In the last week, a report had surfaced stating that North Korea had newly increased its stock of nuclear weapons. In the report, the European think tank SIPRI has said that North Korea had developed ten new nuclear weapons. SIPRI has also claimed that these weapons were hidden at the uranium enrichment site at Kangson. It is said that North Korea currently holds more than 30 nuclear weapons.

A few researchers have claimed that along with the development of new nuclear weapons, North Korea has also constructed a few secret naval bases. Jacob Bogle gave this information based on satellite images. This naval base has been built at Sinpo, located at the eastern coast of North Korea. Bogol has also claimed that the naval bases have been facilitated for the deployment of warships and submarines. The threat issued by North Korea regarding nuclear weapons draws attention in the view of SIPRI’s report and the claims of the new naval bases.

A few days back, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un’s sister Kim Yo-jong had threatened South Korea of military action. Also, North Korea has cut all communication with South Korea. North Korea claims to have taken the decision after rebuking South Korea for its failure to stop the release of balloons from its border that were used for criticising Dictator Kim Jong-un.

Later, North Korea became more aggressive and blew off the liaison office that was meant for improving political relations with South Korea. Besides, it is being said that North Korea has deployed its army in the demilitarized zone along the South Korean border.
