US waging a psychological war against Russia, Russian defence adviser

Moscow/Washington: Andrei Ilnitsky, an adviser to Russia’s defence minister, has accused the United States of waging a psychological war against Russia. Ilnitsky said the aim of this warfare is the destruction of the enemy’s understanding of the civilizational pillar. The Russian adviser also claimed that the United States was trying to undermine President Vladimir Putin and the state institutions.

US President Joe Biden and his administration have taken an immensely aggressive stance against Russia. The Biden administration has declared Russia an enemy of the United States. A few days ago, President Biden had stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a killer. Also, the United States has imposed sanctions on Russia over the arrest of Navalny, a bitter opponent of President Putin. Due to the support of the Biden administration, Ukraine has initiated aggressive moves against Russia. By activating NATO in Europe, the Biden administration is hinting at preparing to encircle Russia once again.

In the wake of recent events, the allegations of Russia’s defence adviser are noteworthy. Andrei Ilnitsky, an adviser to Russia’s defence minister, accused the United States as he said, ‘A new type of warfare is being used against Russia. I would call it a mental war. The aim of this warfare is the destruction of the enemy’s understanding of the civilizational pillar. The mentality of the Russian people is being targeted.’ Ilnitsky also warned that the United States was also using economic and “informational” measures in attempts to undermine Putin, the presidency, the army, the Russian Church and youth.

Russian advisers claim that the United States is using such war tactics because it is aware that Russia is a nuclear-armed country and is keen to avoid a direct military conflict. Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Russian president, also confirmed the statement on US psychological warfare. ‘A deliberate policy to contain and keep Russia down is being pursued. It is absolutely constant and visible to the naked eye,’ Peskov said.

Just last week, Peskov had asserted that Russia was ready for a new Cold War if it comes to that. Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, has accused the United States of rebuilding military and political alliances, similar to the Cold War era, to achieve its destructive goals, and dismantling the world order based on the United Nations (UN).
