Russia and China are hostile nations for the UK

London – ‘The three countries that I mentioned to you have the physical human capability, they have a big cyber presence, they’re able to deploy at scale,’ said Damian Hinds, UK’s Minister for Security and Borders. Hinds has included Iran in this list and said that even North Korea poses a threat to the UK.

He further added that Russia, China, and Iran are involved in multiple activities such as spying on the ground, cyber-attacks, soldiers on stand-by, and disinformation campaigns. These three countries have several options against the UK, Hinds claimed.

For the last few months, relations between the UK and Russia have been strained. However, only a few days ago, the UK warned against the possible Russian attack on Ukraine. Besides, in November, the UK’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Nick Carter, warned that Russia’s war with the West could erupt. Carter had made aware that countries with monopolies could use anything from refugees to cyber-attacks to achieve their objectives. Even sooner to this, UK’s Foreign Secretary had accused Russia of carrying out cyberattacks on her country.

Especially after Russia deployed more than a million troops on the Ukrainian border, a war could erupt in the region and NATO member states will go to war, have been warning the analysts. Against this backdrop, the UK, a key NATO member, has made the atmosphere in Europe even combustible by including Russia as its number one enemy.

Furthermore, Russia has submitted a proposal to NATO; to ease tensions on the Ukraine issue that will be discussed on January 12. But before this discussion, the UK has made serious allegations against Russia. In early December, UK’s Intelligence Chief, Richard Moore, had also claimed that the threat posed by Russia to his country had increased. Moore had said that because of these activities of Russia, chances of a bilateral dialogue have diminished. However, Russia denied the accusations and blamed that these allegations made by Western countries against it were a part of an anti-Russian propaganda campaign.
