Kyiv/ Brussels – US President Joe Biden visits European countries as the Ukraine conflict completes a month. President Biden attended the NATO summit in Brussels, Belgium. This time, NATO has announced an aggressive decision to increase its deployment in Eastern Europe. There is a claim that the NATO summit also agreed to provide full assistance to Ukraine in the war against Russia. After the NATO summit, the President of the United States will participate in the G7 and the European Union meetings. The conflict in Ukraine will be the most crucial issue at this meeting.
Some major cities, including the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, have been sieged by Russian forces. However, Russian troops stationed about 25 km from the capital Kyiv did not enter the city. Instead, the Russian military has decided to block Kyiv. On the other hand, Russia is still severely attacking other Ukrainian cities. On Thursday, Ukraine launched an attack on a Russian destroyer in the port of Berdyansk, due to which the destroyer caught fire. By saying that the Ukraine military is fighting the Russian army, NATO has claimed that 7,000 to 15,000 Russian troops have been killed in the conflict. However, NATO did not report how many personnel Ukraine lost in this conflict.
Meanwhile, Russia has expelled 12 US diplomats from the country. Russia’s ambassador has shown a mirror to the United States, waging a worldwide campaign against Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Anatoly Antonov questioned if the US Ministry of Defense has forgotten how the US and NATO carried out horrific attacks on Yugoslavia, Iraq and Libya. At the same time, he asked if Washington forgot the atrocities US soldiers and mercenaries committed against the people of Afghanistan and Syria. The Russian ambassador asked such questions. The US President had accused the Russian President of being a war criminal, citing the war in Ukraine. But, Russia has reacted sharply to this.
At the same time, while addressing the NATO summit through virtual media, Ukrainian President Zelensky demanded NATO’s air security and anti-ship missiles. Without directly acknowledging this demand, the United States has announced a large-scale weapon supply to Ukraine. Thus, NATO has aggressively decided to increase its deployment in all four countries in Eastern Europe, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary. Through this, NATO has prepared to increase its pressure further on Russia. But, it would only intensify Russia’s military action, as evident from Russia’s stern warnings to Poland and Ukraine’s other neighbours.
