Moscow / Kyiv – Ukraine would never win the conflict against Russia, and the United States should pressure Ukraine to negotiate with Russia, claimed former US official Hugh de Santis. While the claim of the US official emerges, the Ukrainian President has also made a statement that efforts were being made to put pressure on Ukraine for a peace deal with Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Western leaders and the media have been advising in this regard. Meanwhile, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that Russian forces had seized most of the Luhansk province.

Shoigu has clarified that Russia has also been predominating in the areas of the ongoing conflict in Luhansk. The Russian officials in the Luhansk region also claimed that most of the Severodonetsk city was under Russian control. Further conflict is for Lysychansk city, and the Russian forces have informed that the intensity of the attacks has been increased. In the last 24 hours, Russia has destroyed large quantities of foreign artillery and weapon stock, killing at least 400 Ukrainian soldiers, said the Russian Defence Ministry.

Ukrainian President Zelensky has made a statement in this regard and claimed that Western countries and the media are fed up with the conflict. Zelensky has also said that foreign leaders and the media pressure them to negotiate with Russia. Before Zelensky’s remarks, it has emerged that former US officials had also remarked about Russia-Ukraine negotiations. Former US Secretary of State Hugh de Santis has ruled out the possibility of Ukraine’s victory against Russia in an article. Santis warned that Ukraine could not win militarily, and reaching a conclusion through negotiations was the only solution. The United States and its allies need to pressure Ukraine to negotiate, Santis said.
