Washington – ‘It has been a year since America’s humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan. The Taliban has taken over Afghanistan. It could lead to another 9/11-style attack on the US. If that happens, the botched withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan will be its cause,’ ex-US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said as he warned the American people. Furthermore, Pompeo accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of attacking Ukraine solely because of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.   

Mike Pompeo, who served as the US Secretary of State during the tenure of former President Trump, has also served as the head of the country’s renowned intelligence agency, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Therefore, the warning of the terrorist attack he issued has assumed high significance. ‘Twenty years ago, a horrific terrorist attack occurred in New York and was planned using Afghanistan. Even now, a massive terrorist attack could happen anywhere from US’s New York to California using Afghanistan. The withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan has made the United States more vulnerable. We can certainly arrive at this conclusion after witnessing the turn of events one year after the withdrawal,’ Pompeo added.   

Speaking on a radio show, Pompeo held the Biden administration to task for withdrawing troops from Afghanistan. ‘The United States faced embarrassment on the world stage due to the withdrawal. I have seen Afghans trying to leave their country by clinging to American aircraft. Then in August 2021, 13 US service members were killed in a suicide attack by IS at the airport in Kabul. All this was a glimpse of what would come after the withdrawal,’ Mike Pompeo claimed.  

Former US Secretary of State Pompeo alleged that ‘Russian President Vladimir Putin attacked Ukraine because of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. Putin is convinced that the United States will not be able to do anything against him.’ Therefore, Pompeo expressed severe concern over the matter by saying that President Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan would prove quite expensive for the United States in the future. While America is in danger, President Biden is struggling to win the midterm elections, criticised Pompeo. Moreover, the former State Secretary stated, ‘The US Army is falling into the hands of the woke, i.e., hypocrites and important institutions of the country are becoming corrupt. It is creating a lifestyle of undermining the things that matter most to everyone from New York to California, making America more vulnerable.’   

Mike Pompeo’s remarks are claimed to have great political significance. Some time ago, while opposing Biden, Pompeo made a suggestive statement indicating that he would not wait long for the former President Trump. Therefore, it is also claimed that the former Secretary of State Pompeo might participate as a presidential candidate in the 2024 elections. Pompeo himself had indicated that. The media says his statement that ‘he has something to offer America’ is a prelude to his candidacy for the presidency.
