Growing concerns of deadly Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan infecting over 10,000 people, WHO likely to declare a ‘Global Health Emergency’

Beijing/Washington: The Wuhan virus outbreak, which originated in China, is spreading dangerously fast, and the European researchers claim that the number of patients in China alone has crossed 10,000. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has taken note of the killer virus, spreading in the world from China and initiated preparations to declare a global health emergency. As per the Chinese agencies, the number of persons infected with the Wuhan Virus has risen to 450 while claiming the lives of 17 people.

At the end of last year, the virus from the family recognised as the Coronavirus had erupted in China. Initially, the outbreak was claimed of being limited to the Seafood Market and surrounding areas. After information on the virus began to surface, the Chinese agencies asserted that only 40 to 45 patients were admitted with the infection. However, the Chinese agencies’ coverup was subsequently exposed.

Later, a European group created a sensation with its forecast affirming more than 1,700 people were infected. After the information surfaced globally, the Chinese agencies started releasing information regarding the extent of the outbreak. As per Wednesday’s official report, 446 patients are infected with the Wuhan Virus. The death toll has reached 17 so far and is anticipated to rise in a few days.

At the same time, China clarified that more than 2,000 people, who came in contact with persons infected with the Wuhan Virus, are being investigated. Chinese experts have also admitted that the virus was contagious and could spread from one person to another. Nevertheless, as the source of the infection is still unknown, the mystery around the illness continues. The lack of information has thus sparked tremendous restlessness across the globe, and the oil as well as gold markets would likely be affected.

Meanwhile, the Wuhan Virus outbreak is spreading rapidly by the day, and a patient infected with the virus was found in the United States as well. On Tuesday, the US Health Department declared the information in a press conference. A 30-year-old was detected with the Wuhan Virus in the Washington state and was revealed to have recently visited China. Also, the US officials stated that the concerned patient was admitted to a special department in the ‘Providence Regional Medical Centre’.

After the case in the US, another US citizen was found infected with the virus in Thailand. Wuhan virus patients have also been found in Japan, Taiwan and South Korea. Given the rampant spread of the Wuhan Virus, the WHO called for an emergency meeting on Wednesday. A decision on declaring a global health emergency over the Wuhan Virus outbreak would probably be taken during the conference.
