Abuja: President of Fulani Nationality Movement (Funam) Badu Salisu Ahmadu warned that ‘The original land of Nigeria belongs to the Fulani people and no one can take away that right from them. The Fulani community had control over the entire Nigerian territory nearly a thousand years ago. However, this part of history was erased. Now, the time has come to rewrite history. Fulani will once again take control of the entire territory from Sokoto to the banks of the Atlantic Ocean, which is under the control of our religious rivals.’ The Nigerian security agencies, which are facing terrorist attacks once every ten days, have taken the Fulani group’s warning seriously.
The Fulani group known for ethnic attacks in Nigeria released a communique two days ago. Last week, the Fulani group attacked civilians belonging to the Berom (or Birom) community in the Plateau state. The Fulani militia launched attacks killing 14 people, while Fulani chief Ahmadu justified the attacks on the Berom people. Also, Ahmadu warned that if the Fulani militia were attacked, they would retaliate to it with thrice the intensity.
At the same time, Fulani leader Ahmadu has threatened other African countries along with the Nigerian government. ‘Thousands of years ago, the members of the Fulani community were the first to arrive and settle in the Plateau-Benue region. Therefore, every inch of the land here belongs only to the Fulani people. The history is being distorted with the wrong stories of the past. Nevertheless, a conscious effort will be made to rewrite history,’ Ahmadu said.
The chief of the terrorist organisation has threatened that Fulani would take control over the entire territory from Sokoto in the Plateau region to the banks of the Atlantic Ocean. Ahmadu asserted that the Fulani soldiers and all their people were ready for the battle to claim their land. Furthermore, no compromises will be made on the matter, Ahmadu clarified.
The Nigerian government and leaders are claiming that Fulani chief Ahmadu was trying to instigate the extremists through misinformation. The Fulani community came to the Plateau region in Nigeria in the 18th century. Therefore, the leaders in Nigeria believe the Fulani community cannot claim their right on the Nigerian territory.
Meanwhile, terrorist organisations of Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and Al-Shabaab are operational in Nigeria as well, and the Fulani group has its independent influence in the region. The extremist group targets Christians in Nigeria. Two years ago, the Fulani group had carried out a significant attack on the Christian people in the area.
