Russia issues warning to US, NATO as it faces stepped up pressure from them

Moscow/Brussels/Washington: The Biden administration is preparing to revitalise relationship with NATO. President Biden will soon be discussing the Russian threat with NATO chiefs. Therefore, Russia has expressed outrage at the Biden administration and the cooperation being re-established with NATO. Simultaneously, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned that if the United States does not abandon its policy of increasing pressure on Russia in time, they will take steps to respond to it as well.

The then US President Donald Trump had criticised NATO for adding financial and military burden on the United States. Trump also accused the European countries of being less involved in the military alliance than the United States. It had created tensions between the US and NATO. Now, current US President Joe Biden has initiated moves to re-establish a partnership with NATO.

The US and NATO member nations will be meeting this week. They are to discuss the threat Russia poses during the meeting. Besides, the conference is also expected to decide on the deployment of troops to countries near Russia’s western border. Denouncing the cooperation between the United States and NATO, Russia had said that it was an effort to increase pressure on the country. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov had issued the warning to the United States and NATO.

A few days ago, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had expressed readiness to resolve the dispute with the United States through diplomatic and political means. Ryabkov reminded that ‘Russia took the initiative to improve relations with the United States and NATO. Russia had opened its doors. However, the United States and NATO member states need to be mindful that our doors will not remain open permanently.’

Ryabkov also called on the United States to change its policy toward Russia. ‘If the US and NATO maintain a policy of increasing pressure on Russia, we will take retaliatory steps and not heed any sanctions,’ Ryabkov warned.

At the same time, Ryabkov threatened that ‘Russia will bring together sensible world leaders against the United States dictatorship and authoritarianism. We will make international efforts to materialise the concept of a multipolar world.’

Meanwhile, the US sent bombers to Russia’s neighbouring nation, Norway, a few days ago. But before the US bombers could arrive, Russia had completed a patrol close to Norway with its advanced fighter jets. The move came as a warning to the United States and has caused a rise in tensions in the region.
