Beijing: – Amid rising tensions over the Taiwan issue, Chinese President Xi Jinping has reportedly been awarded extra powers to undertake actions for war. According to a Japanese daily, Jinping will not require parliamentary permission to start preparing for war. Meanwhile, the Chinese regime has stepped up its moves to invade Taiwan. It has been reported that tanks and armoured vehicles were dispatched from some Chinese cities to regions near Taiwan.
Over the past few months, China’s anti-Taiwan policy has become increasingly aggressive. At a recent Communist Party event, President Jinping raised the issue of Taiwan’s merger. He insisted that Taiwan would soon merge with China. Since then, there has been a surge in military activity in China and at other levels. The additional powers granted to Jinping seem to be part of the same.
Besides, under the new powers granted to the Chinese president; he would not need to take permission from anyone to make additional recruitments for the military during the war. In this regard, Jinping will be able to change the existing rules as he deems fit. Moreover, analysts claim that the preparation for a new war may be the reason behind the sudden granting of such powers. A few days ago, an article published by a Chinese news agency claimed that Jinping had paid personal attention to the military movements in the South and the East China Sea and the conflict on the Indian border.
Against this backdrop, the ongoing preparations for Taiwan and the new rights attract attention. While President Jinping is being given ‘War Powers’, the Chinese military has made vital preparations as well. In the last few days, many tanks and armoured vehicles have been sent from some Chinese cities to areas near Taiwan. Videos of this have been published on social media in China. In October, a Chinese news channel reported that tanks were transported from boats used for the Roro service. China has also reportedly developed ‘Mockup Models’ of US warships to practice the conflict with Taiwan.
Meanwhile, since the last two days, the intrusion of Chinese aircraft into Taiwan’s airspace has increased once again. According to the Taiwanese Defence Ministry, 20 Chinese planes intruded into the Taiwanese territory on Saturday and Sunday. Last month, China tried to increase pressure on Taiwan by sending more than 200 aircraft into its territory.
