China is preparing for war against Taiwan

Washington: ‘President Xi Jinping is taking serious steps to annex Taiwan into China. He instructed the Chinese people to prepare for a war against Taiwan. Therefore, China can start a war with Taiwan at any moment,’ warned General H R McMaster, the former US national security adviser. At the same time, McMaster has also suggested to the Biden administration that if Taiwan is armed for the war against China, it will certainly benefit the United States.

war against TaiwanIn an interview with a US news channel, McMaster, who served as the National Security Adviser during the tenure of then US President Donald Trump, expressed his candid views on the policies of the Biden administration and the challenges facing the United States. ‘Chinese President Xi Jinping’s intentions are not good. At such a time, the position adopted by the Biden administration towards China is not beneficial for US interests,’ McMaster underscored.

‘China has become increasingly aggressive, not only from an economic and financial perspective and a wolf warrior diplomacy perspective, but physically, with its military. It is a very serious matter. But what is even more serious is that President Xi Jinping is preparing his people for a war against Taiwan’, warned McMaster. Also, McMaster claimed that although China had previously threatened to attack Taiwan, Xi Jinping’s warnings about Taiwan were more serious this time.

McMaster said the United States should view Xi Jinping’s threat, made during his address to the nation after he was sworn in as China’s president for the third time five months ago, of attacking Taiwan as a direct threat of war. If the Biden administration wants to avoid sparking a China-Taiwan war like the one between Russia and Ukraine, they should arm Taiwan in advance, the former US national security adviser warned.

Meanwhile, Japan had demanded a few months ago that the US give importance to Taiwan’s security to protect its interests in the Indo-Pacific region. Nevertheless, it is evident that the Biden administration still needs to take Taiwan’s safety seriously. On the contrary, critics of President Biden claim that the Biden administration’s policies are encouraging China to attack Taiwan.

Former NATO chief on Taiwan visit

तैवानविरोधीTaipei: Anders Rasmussen, the former Secretary General of the NATO military alliance, arrived in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, on Tuesday. He will be meeting Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen soon. The former NATO chief’s visit is noteworthy especially given the recent tensions between the US and China over Taiwan’s issue.

The think tank ‘Alliance of Democracies’ has claimed that Rasmussen will try to gain the support of democratic countries around the world for Taiwan and increase cooperation between the European Union and Taiwan. The think tank was established in 2017 by Rasmussen, the former Prime Minister of Denmark and then former head of NATO.
