Europe to face a new Coronavirus wave, warn health experts  

Vienna: Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) have warned that the number of Coronavirus patients in European countries is rising exponentially and a Corona storm is approaching Europe. Patients with the new Omicron variant have been found in 38 countries in the European Union. Hans Kluge, a WHO expert, pointed out that the variant’s infection has become a dominant strain across four countries. Coronavirus cases are rising in Germany, with new Chancellor Olaf Scholz warning that Coronavirus will not be taking a Christmas break. Against this background, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden have announced tougher sanctions.  

The Omicron variant of the Coronavirus, discovered in South Africa last month, is spreading rapidly. The number of patients in the United States and Europe is growing rapidly. Besides, new records are being set for the number of new cases in Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Russia and other countries. So far, Omicron cases have been found in about 100 countries worldwide. Against this background, the WHO has issued a new alert for Omicron infection in Europe.  

Moreover, 90 million patients have been diagnosed in European countries so far, and the number of deaths due to Coronavirus has reached 1.6 million. More than 2.6 million new cases were reported in Europe last week. Whereas the number of Coronavirus deaths has reached 30,000. Besides, with the spread of the Omicron variant, the number of cases rises exponentially in Europe. Medical expert Hans Klug has warned that this increase in the numbers is a new Corona storm lurking on the European horizon.  

Its repercussions are being felt in the leading countries of Europe. Germany’s new chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced tougher sanctions and appealed for vaccinations. ‘Germany will not ignore the new wave of Coronavirus. Coronavirus will not be taking a Christmas break. The number of patients with Omicron variant among the Coronavirus patients may soon increase,’ said Scholz. While announcing new sanctions, Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa warned that Christmas would not be celebrated as usual this year.  

The number of Coronavirus patients reported daily in France has reached close to 70,000, and the government claims that Omicron will have become a ‘dominant strain’ in the country by January. 13,558 new cases have been reported from Denmark in the last 24 hours and the health agencies informed that most of the new cases are of the Omicron variant.
