Russia would respond to NATO ‘differently’ if it rejects our military proposal

Moscow – Russia’s President Vladimir Putin sternly warned that if Russia’s proposal to ease tensions with NATO is rejected, it will be answered using diverse options. Besides, Russia is closely watching over the ongoing efforts to get Finland and Sweden’s inclusion in NATO. Besides, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has warned that this act will be responded to ‘adequately’.

The United States is warning that Russia will attack Ukraine in the new year. The US had threatened that if Russia launches an attack, it will have dire consequences. European countries have warned that a possibility of a full-fledged US-NATO fierce war with Russia has escalated. Against this background, the Russian President had proposed to reduce this tension. The proposal demands to give up the thought of including Ukraine and the countries in the sphere of Russian influence to join NATO and stop the efforts to set up US-NATO military bases in these countries.

However, the US-NATO have not paid much attention to the proposal. But it has been reported that NATO is prepared to discuss with Russia. It is reported in the media that the talks will be held on January 12, but the US and NATO have indicated that Russia’s proposal is not acceptable. Against this backdrop, Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated in suggestive words that a dire situation could ensue due to rejecting his proposal. President Putin spoke in an interview with Russia’s National News Agency on Sunday.

If Russia’s proposal is rejected, it will be answered with different alternatives. President Putin said, ‘it will depend on what proposals our military experts submit to me.’ While this warning was coming from him, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova gave another warning to NATO. ‘The persistent attempts by NATO to draw those countries into the orbit of its interests and opportunistic policies haven’t gone unnoticed by Russia. It’s quite obvious that Finland and Sweden joining NATO…would have serious military and political consequences that would require an adequate response from the Russian side,’ saying this Zakharova has slammed NATO.

Meanwhile, NATO is working on an ‘open-door policy’, ignoring warnings from Russia. Thus, the countries that meet the criteria could join NATO, announced NATO Secretary-General John Stoltenberg. NATO and the United States said that it is up to the country to decide whether to join NATO or not. Besides, no other country can dominate it. However, making the countries in the sphere of Russian influence become members of NATO and setting up NATO and US military bases means directly challenging Russia to war. Russia has sternly warned that this is a ‘red line’ and be prepared to bear the consequences of its violation.

Against this backdrop, a situation has arisen that Europe is on the brink of a full-fledged war, which may break out at any moment. Though European countries have expressed concern, Russia will not be allowed to attack Ukraine, claimed European member states of NATO.
