Moscow / Kyiv – The intensity and extent of attacks have increased significantly by the Russian Defence Forces following the seizure of Luhansk province. It is said that the Russian forces have started their simultaneous advances toward the cities of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Bakhmut in the Donbas region. At the same time, the number of missile attacks in western and southern Ukraine has also increased, Ukraine informed. Meanwhile, Russian sources reported that Russia had used an advanced electromagnetic weapons system to stop the Ukrainian drone attacks. This is the first instance of using electromagnetic weapons in this struggle.  

After seizing the Luhansk province, the Russian Defence Forces shifted their front to the Donetsk province in the Donbas region. After gaining complete control over Luhansk last week, the Russian military and pro-rebels launched attacks on important cities in Donetsk. These include Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Bakhmut. The Russian forces’ first target was Sloviansk, powerfully struck by tanks, artillery and rockets. Information has also surfaced that some were killed in Sloviansk in Tuesday’s attacks. A British Defence Ministry report cited that Russian forces had reached just 10 miles from the city.  

Due to these increasing attacks, the local administration ordered the city’s citizens to evacuate. Other means of transportation, including buses, were arranged to get out of the town since Monday, with thousands of citizens said to have moved out in 24 hours. In addition to Sloviansk, Russia launched attacks in other parts of Ukraine. These include the cities of Sumi and Mykolaiv, along with the Khmelnytskyi province in western Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky informed that missile attacks were launched on these cities.  

Meanwhile, Russian defence forces informed that advanced electromagnetic systems were used for the first time in the Ukraine conflict. Russia used Stupor electromagnetic guns against Ukrainian drones. Russian sources said that the connection between the drone and the drone operator is broken with the help of these guns. Russian sources indicated that it was used in the conflict in the Donbas province. Earlier, Russia had declared the usage of hypersonic missiles and laser weapons.
