US nuclear-armed B-2 bombers arrive in Australia

Brisbane – US B-2 bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons and dodging enemy radar systems have arrived in Australia. The United States and Australia declared that the deployment would be for the training of Australian pilots and future war exercises. But, the US is claimed to have deployed bombers in Australia against China’s aggression in the Indo-Pacific region. Following the Australian Defence Minister’s visit to the US, the arrival of B-2 bombers in Australia indicates a different signal.

B-2 bombersFurthermore, four B-2 spirit bombers had flown from the Missouri airbase of the US last week. Two of the bombers out of these landed in Australia on Saturday. The bombers, which have travelled a distance of about 14,000 km, have been deployed at Amberley Airport in Brisbane, Australia. The Air Force of both countries clarified that the deployment of these aircraft is at the backdrop of the ongoing war exercises between the United States and Australia.

Simultaneously, the US will be training Australian pilots over these bombers. It has surfaced this air cooperation has been completed according to the Force Posture Agreement between the US and Australia in 2017. Accordingly, it has been claimed that US B-2 bombers will play a significant role in an independent and free Indo-Pacific region. Hence, there are indications that US bombers that arrived for war exercises could remain deployed in Australia for a long time.

Besides, international media say that the United States has landed bombers in Australia against growing Chinese aggression in the Indo-Pacific region. China has challenged Australian surveillance planes and destroyers in the past few weeks. Earlier, Chinese fighter jets had used Chaff on an Australian surveillance plane in the South China Sea area. It has been reported that the United States has deployed these bombers in response to growing Chinese influence. Moreover, US B-2 bombers flew from Guam islands a few days ago.

Meanwhile, there have been discussions that deploying these nuclear-armed stealth bombers is part of the US Indo-Pacific plan. Australian Defence Minister Marles, who is on a visit to the United States, had announced opening a new defence alliance in cooperation with the US. After meeting with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the Pentagon, Australian Defence Minister Marles announced he would not compromise on security in the Indo-Pacific region based on Ukraine’s experience.
