Moscow/Kyiv – As the issue of the attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plants tingles, Russia has increased the scope of the attacks in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. Ukraine reported a significant loss of life on Wednesday and Thursday, two consecutive days of a missile attack in Kharkiv province. Besides, the Russian army has constantly been hitting on all the fronts of Bakhmut, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk in Donetsk province with the help of cannons, tanks and rockets. Meanwhile, there are reports of new explosions in Russia’s Belgorod and Crimea provinces.

Moreover, the nuclear project issue in the Zaporizhzhia region of southern Ukraine has been tingling for the past few days. Russia has accused Ukraine has continuously attacked the project in the area. Moreover, Ukraine and western countries have claimed that Russia has been trying to ‘nuclear blackmail’ by making false attacks. While the atmosphere festers over this issue, conflict in other areas intensifies.

The nuclear project issue in the Zaporizhzhia region of southern Ukraine has been tingling for the past few days. Russia has accused Ukraine has continuously attacked the project in the area. Moreover, Ukraine and western countries have claimed that Russia has been trying to ‘nuclear blackmail’ by making false attacks. While the atmosphere festers over this issue, conflict in other areas intensifies.

After seizing the Luhansk province in Donbas, Russia has not had significant success in this field. Therefore, Russia has emphasised intensifying its campaign, and it is said that new deployments have also been made for it. Russia has been continuously hitting cannons and rockets at Sloviansk, Bakhmut, and Avdiivika areas in Donbas for the past few days. It has emerged that though some villages in the region have come under Russian control, stiff resistance is being faced by decisive areas from Ukraine. On the other hand, attacks from Ukraine on Russian territory also seem to increase. Last month, Ukrainian forces launched a campaign of counter-attacks against areas under Russian control in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. But now, the provinces directly on the Russian border have been targeted. Besides, Belgorod, bordering Ukraine and Crimea under Russian control, has been attacked.

On Thursday evening, a massive fire broke out at Russia’s weapons storage in the Timonovo area of Belgorod province. At this time, there were also loud sounds of explosions, and two villages nearby had been evacuated. Timonovo is at a distance of 30 miles from the Ukrainian border. It is said that four big explosions were heard near the Belbek airbase in Crimea on Friday. This is the third incident of attack on the base in the Crimea province in the past three weeks. Russia claimed no damage in Friday’s blasts.

Meanwhile, Russia has deployed new hypersonic missiles in Kaliningrad, a European base. Russian MiG-31 fighter jets with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles arrived on Thursday at the base in Kaliningrad. The Russian Defence Department informed that these aircraft and missiles had been deployed for ’round clock combat duty’. Kinzhal has a range of 2000 kilometres, and its speed is ‘Mach-12,’ i.e. 12 times the speed of sound. Besides, Ukraine has claimed that Russia has deployed three cruise carriers armed with Caliber missiles in the Black Sea area.
