Russia accuses Ukraine of poisoning Russian soldiers

Moscow/Kyiv – Russia’s Defence Ministry accused the Ukrainian regime of poisoning Russian soldiers in Zaporizhzhia. Late last month, several soldiers from the province had been admitted to the military hospital, and their investigation had found the toxic chemical Botulinum, the defence department said in its allegation. Russia also clarified that they would hand over the evidence and related information of this poisoning to the international system. Meanwhile, Russia informed that they dissipated the drone attack on the naval headquarters in the Crimea province. In the last few days, there had been three major attacks on Russian bases in Crimea.

Last month, the Ukrainian military launched a campaign of counter-attacks against Russian forces. Crimea has also been targeted in these counter-attacks, along with the provinces of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. In the past two weeks, Ukraine has inflicted heavy losses on the Russian military by attacking three bases in the Crimea province. Then on Saturday, an attack was attempted with the help of drones at the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in the city of Sevastopol. Russia foiled the attack by destroying the drones. Western media and analysts claimed that these increasing attacks in Crimea were raising Russia’s concerns.

Russia has accused Ukraine of using poisoning while it has surfaced that the Crimean attack has been dissipated. Russia’s defence department said that the poison was used on Russian soldiers in Zaporizhzhia province. However, it has not been revealed what exactly caused the poisoning. Ukraine has denied these accusations against it. On the contrary, there was a reply that the Russian soldiers ate expired canned meat, which must have caused poisoning.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Russia had increased the deployment of warships in the Black Sea region. About 15 warships, including missile carriers, landing ships and destroyers, have been deployed in the area. Caliber missiles have been deployed on some of these warships. The deployment in the region is said to have increased in the wake of growing Ukrainian attacks in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Crimea and Belgorod.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia could launch major attacks ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day. Wednesday, August 24, is Independence Day of Ukraine. Against this backdrop, President Zelensky warned that Russia would launch major attacks and create a fearful atmosphere. While Zelensky was a warning, Russian President Vladimir Putin has permitted a squad from the International Atomic Energy Commission for the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia. This information was announced after a discussion with French President Emmanuel Macron.
