Finding solution may become difficult if Ukraine conflict prolongs further

Moscow – Western countries are trying to prolong the Ukraine conflict to further damage Russia. However, as much as this conflict prolongs, the possibility of finding a solution will also decrease, warned Gennady Gatilov, the Russian representative to the United Nations. While giving this warning, Gennady also clarified that there is currently no possibility for diplomatic talks between Russia and Ukraine. While the Russian officials are rejecting the possibility of diplomatic negotiations, the President of Ukraine has also threatened by mentioning a new ‘red line’ for Russia. President Zelensky said that the trial against Ukrainian prisoners of conflict would close the negotiations’ avenues completely.

conflict prolongsMoreover, the Russia-Ukraine conflict has been going on for six months now, and both countries continue to attack each other fiercely. Russia has launched heavy strikes from Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine to Odessa in southern Ukraine on all fronts. On the other hand, Ukraine has launched counterattacks on Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Crimea region in south Ukraine. The option of peace talks or solutions has fallen behind due to this escalating conflict. Russian officials and leaders have been making statements about expanding military campaign objectives. Besides, the President of Ukraine has said that the struggle will not stop until Crimea is taken over.

The warning from Russia’s senior officials becomes significant against this backdrop. In an interview with a British daily, Russian representative Gennady stated that a negotiated solution to the conflict was impossible. Earlier in March, the possibility of successful peace talks between Russia and Ukraine was foreseen. But the Western countries want to continue the conflict until the last Ukrainian citizen is alive. ‘The more the conflict goes on, the more difficult it will be to have a diplomatic solution,’ warned the Russian representative. He also claimed that Turkish President Recep Erdoğan tried to open the way for talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of a new ‘red line’ for talks with Russia. Russia has captured thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and made them prisoners of conflict. Zelensky warned that Russia should be aware that if these prisoners of conflict are put on trial and legal action is taken against them, the path to negotiations with Ukraine will be completely closed.

Over the past 24 hours, Russia launched strong hits of missiles and rockets in Odessa, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv provinces. Five caliber missiles were fired in Odessa province and destroyed the weapons stockpile of Western countries, the Russian Defence Ministry informed. Moreover, Russian forces have succeeded in capturing a city on the border of Kherson and Mykolaiv. Ukraine has claimed that Russia has continuously shelled guns and rockets into the Donetsk province and the Kherson region.
