Moscow/Kyiv: Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken serious note of the drone strikes on the Russian border by Ukraine. In the wake of three successive drone strikes , President Putin has ordered an alert by holding a meeting of intelligence agencies, defence forces and other security agencies. Russian media also said that there were indications that additional deployments would be made on the Russia-Ukraine border. Some analysts have claimed that the drone attacks by Ukraine are a warning to Russia. In the last few weeks, Russian defence forces have intensified the attack on the Ukrainian fronts. Along with the Donbas region, Russian forces were launching fierce attacks on Kharkiv, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. Senior leaders and officials had admitted that it was difficult for the Ukrainian Army to retaliate against the Russian aggression. In view of it, the Ukrainian Army is said to have increased the use of drones for retaliatory attacks on Russia.
Ukraine carried out drone strikes in different parts of Russia for three consecutive days, from Monday to Wednesday. On Monday, with the help of three drones, the Belgorod province, which lies on the Ukrainian border. Local officials said some buildings and vehicles were damaged in the attack. On Tuesday, Ukraine tried to target the energy project in the capital Moscow. The drones hit Gazprom’s project in Gubastovo, just 60 miles from Moscow. A local official said the drone was downed in the area of the company’s external security fence.
According to Defence Ministry, an attempt was made to launch attack drones on the Bryansk province on Tuesday, but the Russian Army succeeded in shooting the drone down. On Wednesday, the Ministry also said ten drones were used to attempt a major attack in Russia’s Crimea province. Six drones were destroyed, and four were defused using the Electronic Warfare System (EVM).
President Putin has taken serious note of the successive drone strikes. Putin is said to have held a meeting of key agencies after the drone attack in Moscow on Tuesday. He issued orders to heighten security along the Russian-Ukrainian border during the meeting. Furthermore, the Russian media claimed that deployments to the border would be stepped up and additional air security systems would be deployed.
Previously in December, Ukraine had launched drone attacks on Russian bases. Russian military bases and fighter jets were found to have been damaged. After the attack, Russia launched a large number of missile attacks on Ukraine.
