For the past few weeks, news and reports have been published about the counter-offensive campaign planned by Ukraine against Russia. It is said that Ukraine has made great preparations with the help of more than 50,000 soldiers as well as weapons and information received from the West. As these claims come to light, Russia seems to have stepped up its attacks.

On the one hand, Russian forces are tightening their grip on the city of Bakhmut in the Donbas region day by day. On the other side, a series of heavy attacks have begun to bring all parts of the Donbas region under Russian control. Just last week, Russian forces demonstrated their strength by attacking several cities in Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv, with the help of missiles and drones. After that, in the last 48 hours, the Russian forces have killed more than a thousand soldiers of the Ukrainian Army, Russian Defence Ministry informed.

Russian forces targeted various parts of the Donbas region on Friday and Saturday. It includes Bakhmut, Kupiansk, Lyman and Ugledar and nearby areas. 575 Ukrainian soldiers and foreign contractors were killed in the clashes on Friday. More than 480 Ukrainian troops and contract soldiers were killed in Saturday’s attacks, according to Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lt. Gen. Igor Konashenkov. The Russian spokesperson explained that tanks, artillery guns, howitzers, armoured vehicles, radars and drones were also destroyed in these attacks. On Sunday morning, Ukraine claimed that Russia fired rockets in Kharkiv province.

Former President Dmitry Medvedev has drawn attention by making aggressive statements against the Ukrainian regime while the Russian Defense Ministry reports about the casualties in Ukraine. “If all plans of the Ukrainian regime are to be thwarted, it is necessary to inflict a crushing military defeat on them during counter-offensives. Ukraine’s military units and weapons should be destroyed in large numbers. The current regime should be destroyed by demilitarizing Ukraine,” Medvedev warned. It is said that the former Russian President made this statement while commenting in response to the interview of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
