Ankara: The historic peace deal established between Israel and UAE ten days ago, is claimed to be against Iran. The deal is believed to help form a front of Israel and Arab nations against Iran. A leading Turkish daily claimed that ‘The cooperation between Israel and the UAE, is not against Iran but Turkey. Israel, UAE and other Arab countries are targeting Turkey with the deal and is thus a threat to its security.’
Western nations say the Israel-UAE deal is a warning to Iran. The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) have even threatened the UAE over it. The UAE will have to bear dire consequences for the deal, the Iranian President had warned. Nevertheless, the UAE adopted an independent stand while its Foreign Ministry clarified not having sent any message to Iran through the deal. The Daily Sabah, a Turkish daily, has cited this UAE statement as it made its claims.
The Turkish outlet rebuked the UAE for not adopting a similar stand with Turkey as with Iran when it said the deal was not against Tehran. Instead, the UAE Foreign Ministry had lashed out at Turkey and said it must not interfere in matters internal to the Arab nations, reminded the daily. Previously, a front involving Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Arab allies as also France and Greece were working against Turkey’s influence in Syria, Libya, as even the Middle East or the Mediterranean. ‘Even so, the new Israel-UAE cooperation will henceforth function against Turkey in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. The new ties will pose a challenge to Turkey,’ the Turkish daily claimed.
Further, the media outlet asserted that with cooperation from Israel, the UAE and other Arab nations were conspiring to foil Turkey’s efforts so far with the Palestine deal. As a whole, the newspaper criticised the Israel-UAE deal of being against Ankara. However, as the agreement takes shape, Turkey is not going to remain silent, the daily said. Also, the news outlet highlighted that Ankara had retaliated to its opponents even in Libya.
Senior Hamas officials from Gaza, in the meantime, have arrived in Turkey. These include Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, Salah al-Aruri and Maher Salah. Moreover, Turkish President Recep Erdogan was revealed to have met with the Hamas leaders. Only a few days ago, reports found that Turkey had provided refuge to the Hamas terrorists.
