Washington: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has levelled stinging allegations as he said, ‘Xi Jinping, the General-Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, has revealed his plans. Xi wants complete control over China and to make China the number one power abroad. And he’s well on his way to working on that project. He’s building up the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). He’s manipulating international organisations for Beijing’s benefit as part of the plan.’
During his term, US President Donald Trump has consistently adopted an aggressive stance against China. He initiated the trade war with China three years ago and has now intensified the diplomatic war with China over the coronavirus. As part of this conflict, senior US leaders and officials are trying to expose the real face of the Chinese Communist Party and its activities. Pompeo is leading the efforts, and his latest comments appear to be in line with the political campaign.
While speaking at the Georgia Institute of Technology, US Secretary of State Pompeo took a jibe at China as he said that Beijing could never equal US research and technology. Pompeo stated that ‘China’s commercial success is based on technology stolen from other nations. In some cases, China has bought technology from other nations using its economic leverage. China does not own technology that has been indigenously developed. Also, Chinese researchers studying in the US, are forced to comply with restrictions, where they are asked to return to their homeland and serve the Communist regime.’
Pompeo claimed that the Chinese Communist regime was not just attempting to control Chinese citizens and students but also US students. He highlighted that the Communist institutes established in the US were a glaring example of it. Furthermore, the US Secretary of State warned that Jinping was not only keeping a tab on Chinese citizens but everyone in the US. If the events over the past few days were observed, one would be able to comprehend what steps Jinping was taking to increase his influence, Pompeo said.
The US Secretary of State has sounded the alarm and said that if the American citizens do not update themselves on China and maintain caution with regard to its activities, the Communist regime may be teaching us one day. The Chinese Communist Party is using their wealth and technology to build an authoritarian and repressive state like the world has never seen, Pompeo accused.
Only last month, the US Secretary of State warned that the Chinese Communist Party is the number one threat to the world. At the same time, he cautioned that the US would have to combat the challenges posed by China in the forthcoming decades.
