Afghan Armed Forces’ action kills 190 Taliban militants; eight soldiers rescued from Taliban captivity 

Kabul: The Afghan Defense Ministry claimed that 190 Taliban militants were killed in action taken by the Afghan military in the last 24 hours. The Chinese media also reported that the Taliban captured three districts. At the same time, news surfaced that the US has launched airstrikes on Taliban bases. However, the details of the events were not revealed for a long time.    

The Afghan Armed Forces carried out operations in 14 provinces from Sunday to Monday. Around 140 Taliban militants were killed in the operations launched in Kandahar, Helmand, Nangarhar, Zabul, Herat, Badghis, Balkh, Faryab, Jowzjan, Sar-e Pol, Baghlan and Kapisa, alongside capital Kabul. 50 Taliban terrorists were killed in Laghman province alone. A major conflict was sparked off between the Taliban and the Afghan military in Laghman Province.    

Also, ten people were killed in an attack carried out by the Taliban two days ago. The dead included Afghan defence personnel and locals too. Hence, the military undertook an extensive campaign in Laghman Province. In addition, the Afghan Defense Ministry announced having rescued eight kidnapped soldiers on Sunday night from Amarkhil village in Baghlan province. Moreover, over 125 militants were injured in the operation that lasted for 24 hours.    

The Interior Ministry informed that a woman terrorist suicide bomber was killed in operation in Faryab province. Moreover, reports reveal that the Taliban has also increased its attacks on Afghan forces. On Sunday, the Taliban militants captured Jalrez district in Wardak province and Dawlat Shah in Laghman province. Besides, the Afghan forces had to retreat in a few places in the face of the Taliban aggression, news reports said. Moreover, the local authorities stated that about 100 Afghani soldiers were captured due to their irresponsible behaviour in the conflict against the Taliban.    

Earlier, reports had suggested that the US was assisting the Afghan military operations with airstrikes. On Monday, the US carried out airstrikes on Taliban bases. Meanwhile, a few hours ago, a Pentagon official informed that Pakistan had granted the US permission to use its airspace for operations in Afghanistan. The issue has sparked discussions over it in Pakistan.
