Russia invading Ukraine will spark World War III

Kyiv / Moscow – Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will not be limited to Ukraine but could begin a widespread conflict and spark World War Three, the Ukrainian minister has warned. This is possible considering the current geopolitical situation, Ukraine’s Minister of Veterans Affairs Yulia Laputina warned. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister also warned of a major conflict a few days ago. Either guarantee that Ukraine will not become a new base for NATO’s anti-Russian activities, or risk a major conflict, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov had warned.

spark World WarMoreover, for the past few days, claims have been consistently surfacing that Russia has deployed about 100,000 troops near the Ukrainian border. Along with these claims, photographs depicting information on Russia’s military movements have been published. Western countries have adopted an aggressive stance hereof, and Russia is being made aware of dire consequences. Verbal clashes have begun consistently between Russia and the West, with both sides giving hints-per-hints to each other. The warning given by the Ukrainian minister as well seems to be part of the same.

If Russian President Vladimir Putin orders an invasion of Ukraine, the consequences will be far-reaching, would not be contained in her country, warned Laputina. ‘If Russia will invade, you know, you should also take care about the Balkans. What Russians are doing now in Serbia – they try to provoke a situation in the Balkans,’ she said. She warned, ‘But we also consider [the beginning of] World War Three’ and further added that ‘Geopolitically, it looks like this is a possible scenario.’

The threat posed by Russia to Ukraine was discussed on a priority basis, even in Thursday’s meeting of the European Union. Some European leaders claim the threat of Russian aggression to also be beyond Ukraine. Europe has faced the most dangerous situation in the last three decades, claimed Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda. Meanwhile, Russia has hinted that talks on the Ukraine issue could resume between Russia and the United States. Just last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden had held talks. However, there were no outputs from it. Instead, it was followed by a more aggressive tone set on both sides. Indications given by Russia of the new talks become important against this backdrop.

Earlier, in 2014, Russia invaded Ukraine and annexed the province of Crimea. Also, pro-Russian rebel groups had seized control of some parts known as Donbas in eastern Ukraine. It is said that encounters and conflicts have been raging in the region consistently for the last seven years after that, with about 15,000 people being killed so far.
