Moscow / Kyiv – Representatives of Russia and Ukraine are holding talks in Turkey. The media has claimed that the discussion is being successful. Besides, this has raised hopes of ending the 33-day-old conflict in Ukraine. This had brought down the fuel prices in the international market below one hundred dollars per barrel. However, Russia announced that the action in Ukraine would not stop. Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu also announced that nothing remains in Ukraine’s air force.  

On Tuesday, Russia launched attacks on the cities of Mykolaiv, Kherson, Odesa and Mariupol in Ukraine. There have been accusations that these attacks mean an effort to cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea. Simultaneously, it has also been reported that the Russian military blew up the Ukrainian military air defence system. Russia’s Defence Minister has announced that Russia has destroyed Ukraine’s air force. Hence, Ukraine is demanding air defence systems and anti-aircraft launchers from the US and NATO member countries. Russia and Ukraine representatives hold talks in Istanbul, Turkey, as Russia’s military action continues.  

The talks have caught the world’s attention, and the media has claimed that the discussions are succeeding. This has affected crude oil prices, and for the first time, these prices have come down below one hundred dollars per barrel. But Russia has warned that the conflict is still not over, saying it will continue its action against Ukraine. Russia has already clarified that the action will not stop unless all the Russian demands are met. Ukraine’s President Zelensky has now agreed to Russia’s primary demand of Ukraine not being involved in NATO, raising the possibility of reconciliation between the two countries. However, Russia seems to simultaneously increase pressure at the military and diplomatic level on Ukraine by maintaining simultaneous talks and military strikes.  

Hence, Russia, which has been attacking the Ukrainian cities of Mykolaiv, Kherson, Odesa and Mariupol, is preparing to reduce its military operations near the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and the city of Chernihiv. There are claims that the Russian Deputy Defence Minister gave the information.  

Meanwhile, Russia, which has been accusing the United States of flaring up the conflict in Ukraine, has levelled one more serious accusation against the US. A Russian news agency said that the United States had made preparations to deploy the 400 Afghan soldiers involved in the US campaign in Afghanistan in Ukraine. Some pro-Russian news agencies had also accused the United States of sending terrorists from Syria and Iraq to fight in Ukraine.
