Moscow / Kyiv – Russia’s Defence Forces claimed to have killed 100 Ukrainian soldiers in an attack on a base in the Sloviansk city of the Donbas region. The Russian Defence Forces also said that about 700 rockets, including US weapons stock, were destroyed during the attack. Besides, Ukraine said a rocket attack on Donetsk killed more than 15 people and injured many. Meanwhile, the British daily reports that the Ukrainian government is forcing the country’s citizens to join the army.
Two days ago, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin warned that Russia had not even begun a real war against Ukraine. Reports surfaced that Russia was reorganising its military units for the attacks on Donetsk and Kharkiv. Against this backdrop, the intensity of the attacks on Ukraine from Russia seems to have increased tremendously in the last two days. On Friday, Russian forces launched simultaneous attacks on as many as 40 locations in the Donetsk province. Similar attacks appear to have started in other parts of Ukraine.
Saturday’s attacks on Slovyansk, part of Donbas and Donetsk, confirm this. On Saturday, Russian forces targeted a base built by the Ukrainian army at a factory in the city of Sloviansk. High precision weapons were used for this purpose. A spokesman for the Russian Defence Forces claimed that about 100 soldiers were killed in the attack at the Ukrainian base.
Moreover, the attack also destroyed a substantial foreign weapon stock placed at the base. Russia has also said that simultaneously, 700 Ukrainian-made rockets were destroyed. Following Sloviansk, the city of Donetsk was also strongly hit by rockets. Many buildings were destroyed therein, and more than 15 people were killed, informed Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has faced heavy casualties from the ongoing aggressive hits by Russian forces. Ukraine has lost more than 20,000 soldiers in just a month. In addition, it has surfaced that at least 200 soldiers are killed daily in the ongoing conflict. Against this backdrop, the Ukrainian government has now begun forcibly recruiting its citizens to continue the conflict against Russia. The British newspaper, Daily Mail, reports that this has created an atmosphere of displeasure among the people of Ukraine and anger against President Zelensky.
