Washington/London/Paris: – Reactions have been received from the western countries after Russia sharpened the edge of its attacks in Ukraine tremendously. The United States has announced a supply of weapons worth $770 million to Ukraine, including advanced defence equipment. French President Emmanuel Macron has accused that the Russian attacks on Ukraine are a part of the imperialistic combative mentality. Whereas the British foreign ministry has demanded that Russia should not be allowed to participate in the G-20 conference scheduled to be held in November. Russia has launched massive attacks on the Donetsk and Kharkiv provinces in Ukraine and the edge of the attacks has been dramatically sharpened over the last two days. After the Ukrainian army started launching attacks on the Russian military with the advanced weapons supplied by the United States, the Russian military campaign seems to have become more aggressive. The United States and the United Kingdom, supporters of Ukraine, have taken serious cognisance of the increased intensity of the Russian attacks. French President Emmanuel Macron also fired a salvo of criticism at Russia.
Moreover, the United States announced assistance of additional weapons and advanced defence equipment worth $775 million. These include 16 Howitzer systems, 1,000 Javelin systems, HARM missiles, the Scaneagle drone developed by the Boeing company, and 40 MRAPS military vehicles capable of withstanding massive explosions. Besides, the United States will also be supplying two thousand anti-Armour Rounds to target military vehicles in Ukraine. There are clear indications that these weapons will increase the heat of the conflict following the increase in the intensity of Russian attacks.
French President Emmanuel Macron, who made multiple attempts to establish a dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the conflict, strongly criticised Russia. Macron accused Russia of launching these fierce attacks with an imperialistic mindset to regain its territory. Macron also gave the message that although the populations of France and other European countries are forced to pay a dear price for the Russia-Ukraine conflict, this price will have to be paid for protecting independence and values. The French President pointed out that the Russian military is forging ahead in Ukraine and the conflict is only a few hours away from France.
British foreign ministry appealed for a diplomatic boycott on Russia for launching the attack on Ukraine. The United Kingdom appealed to the member countries to stop Russian participation in the G-20 conference scheduled in November in Bali. It is unlikely that the countries adopting a neutral stand in the Ukraine conflict will accept the British request to stop Russian participation in the G-20 conference. But the countries adopting a neutral stand in the Ukraine conflict and indirectly siding with Russia may feel the pressure of the British demand.
