Moscow/Kyiv – The Russian forces have continued to launch heavy attacks after the retreat in Kharkiv. In the last 24 hours, Russia launched significant attacks in the Donbas region, including Kharkiv and the Mykolayiv region in the south. The Russian Defence Forces said they targeted foreign units in the Donbas region, including US mercenaries assisting Ukraine. Besides, Ukraine has claimed that a missile attack occurred near the Mykolaiv region’s Pivdennoukrainsk nuclear power plant. Against this backdrop, US Army Chief General Mark Milley has indicated that the attacks from Russia may be more intense in the near future.

A few days ago, Russia suffered losses in counter-attacks launched by the Ukrainian army in Kharkiv. Besides, Russian military units had to withdraw as well. This withdrawal of the Russian army significantly impacted the international level, including Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin also took notice of this. Putin had warned that if there were an attempt to put more pressure on the Russian forces, Russia would attack more aggressively and violently in the future. After this statement from the President, the Russian forces started a series of jarring attacks in Ukraine. 

The Russian army has continuously attacked Ukrainian cities, military bases, infrastructure and weapons for the last three days. It also includes the Kharkiv region from which Russia had to withdraw. Other infrastructure facilities are being targeted, including a power plant in Kharkiv. On the other hand, Russia has also accelerated the slow-moving campaign in the Donbas region. In the last 24 hours, Russia launched air and missile strikes on areas near Kramatorsk and Bakhmut. 

The base of US private contract soldiers was the target of these attacks. This base was claimed to belong to the Constellis Private Security Group. Moreover, the Defence Department of Russia informed that they had attacked a detachment of foreign soldiers and caused heavy damage to them. Russia attacked 120 locations in the Donbas region. At the same time, Russia has also launched severe attacks in southern Ukraine’s Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. 

Ukraine accused Russian forces of launching a missile attack near Mykolaiv’s Pivdennoukrainsk nuclear power plant. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine released some photographs and also videos. Ukraine said the missile crashed just 300 meters from the nuclear plant. The Ukrainian authorities have also blamed this Russian act as a part of terrorism. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Ukrainian forces will not stop until they gain complete control of Ukraine.
