Russia launches missile attacks on Kherson and Zaporizhzhia for the second successive day

Moscow/Kyiv: The Ukrainian army continues to attack the Russian forces on the other side of the Dnipro river. These ongoing attacks to push the Russian military back were unsuccessful. On the contrary, it appears that Russia has intensified its attack on Kherson city. On Thursday and Friday, Russian armed forces launched missile attacks on Kherson for two successive days. Along with Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv provinces were also targeted. At the same time, Ukrainian authorities reported that 50 per cent of the power supply in the city was cut off due to missile attacks on the capital city of Kyiv.

A few days ago, Russia’s withdrawal from the city of Kherson was being widely discussed. Western analysts and media began claiming that the withdrawal, which followed Russia’s declaration to annex Kherson province to it, was a sign of Moscow’s defeat in Ukraine. Besides, Ukrainian officials had started boasting that Crimea was their next target. However, in reality, the Ukrainian army has failed to advance in areas other than the one bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson. On the contrary, Russia, which is on the other side of the Dnipro River, is found to have set up a strong defensive line. A few days ago, a barrage of artillery and rockets were fired from this area in the city of Kherson. After that, Russia started missile attacks in Kherson. Ukrainian officials reported that a large number of missiles were fired into Kherson in the past two days. Civilian settlements and infrastructure have been damaged in these attacks, and a large number of lives have also been lost.

Kherson After Kherson, missiles were fired in Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv for two consecutive days. Ukrainian authorities said many people were killed in these attacks. Russia is also reported to have carried out a massive barrage of artillery fire in the Dnipropetrovsk region bordering Zaporizhzhia. The attacks appear to have unnerved the Ukrainian military, which was bragging that they would push back the Russian forces.

After Russia began a spate of missile strikes, some reports said Russia was running out of its missile stockpiles. Nevertheless, in the last few days, Russia has shown its defensiveness anew, proving these claims and news untrue.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian government reported that 50 per cent of the electricity supply in the city was cut off after the missile attacks in the capital city of Kyiv. The water supply has also been affected by power outages, adding to the woes of the Ukrainian people. Moreover, the Ukrainian authorities have admitted that Kyiv and most of the leading cities in Ukraine have a similar situation with little variation.
