President Putin hints at deploying a ‘nuclear-capable mortar weapon’ in Russia-Ukraine conflict

Moscow: While the Russia-Ukraine conflict intensifies by the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signalled to intensify it further. It has initiated moves to deploy the world’s largest and most sophisticated mortar system, ‘2S4 Tulip’, in Ukraine. The ‘240 mm Self-Propelled Heavy Mortar’ system is claimed to be capable of hitting ‘Tactical Nuclear Bombs’. It is said to have been used in Afghanistan, Syria and Chechnya earlier.

UkraineOver the past few days, reports have surfaced that the fighting in eastern Ukraine has become increasingly intense and terrifying. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the front in eastern Ukraine the bloodiest front. President Zelensky also claimed that scores of dead bodies were found in Bakhmut, Soledar and the surrounding areas. According to UK and US officials, Russia has taken control of most of Soledar.

The Wagner Group, a private military company in Russia, has also released some photographs of Soledar. Therefore, it seems that the information given by the western authorities has been confirmed. However, Ukraine is still not ready to admit it. On the other hand, Russian media and social media have reported unrest among the pro-Putin groups after a major attack on some bases and military units in Russia. Therefore, it is also said that Putin may take major steps to intensify the conflict in Ukraine shortly.

In the wake of these developments, the news regarding the deployment of ‘2S4 Tulip’ has surfaced. Russia is claimed to have used it in the past at Maripol. This system is said to be capable of firing ‘cluster ammunition’ and ‘micro nukes’ along with mortars. According to Western media reports, it has a range of about 12 miles and can destroy a base the size of a football field or a large weapons cache.

Analysts have claimed that Russia’s new deployment is a sign of ‘tactical nuclear weapons’ attacks in Ukraine. Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, President Putin and other leading leaders have consistently warned of nuclear war. A few weeks ago, Russia also released photographs showing its deployment of new nuclear weapons. It was also reported that the issue of using nuclear weapons was raised at a meeting of Russian military officials.
