US to send F-35 aircraft & destroyers to Strait of Hormuz to protect its interests in the Persian Gulf

Washington – The US has increased its deployment to prevent Iran from hijacking a foreign fuel tanker travelling through the Strait of Hormuz. The Pentagon had earlier announced the departure of a fleet of F-16 aircraft for Hormuz. However, the Pentagon informed that the most advanced stealth F-35 aircraft and destroyers would be dispatched to assist the US Central Command base in the Persian Gulf. Besides, the US has deployed its fifth-generation F-35 aircraft in Europe and South Korea. However, there have been claims that the United States has given a new warning to Iran by sending these advanced aircraft to the Persian Gulf for the first time.

USOver the past few weeks, the number of attacks on cargo ships and fuel tankers travelling in the Strait of Hormuz has increased. In addition, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and Navy patrol vessels have been revealed to be engaged in targeting and hijacking foreign ships. There were reports of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards taking action in the Persian and Oman Gulfs along with the Gulf of Hormuz. Moreover, Iran was accused of being behind drone attacks on some foreign ships in the region.

Moreover, Iran had hijacked the ships of Japan, South Korea and Norway in the last few months, which triggered a discussion of a threat to oil transit in the Strait of Hormuz. This narrow sea area accounts for 20% of the world’s oil transit. Gulf products and fuel supplies have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to reach Asia and African countries, including Europe. Trade and fuel exports worldwide can get disrupted if this maritime area gets sieged.

Furthermore, the US deployed A-10 Warthog aircraft to protect this sea route in such a situation. The US also announced the deployment of F16 for Hormuz last week. A few days later, the US announced the deployment of the advanced fighter aircraft F-35 and the destroyer USS Thomas Hudner. Defense Minister Lloyd Austin announced this deployment for the security of the US’s friendly and allied countries and this maritime region. Analysts claim that of these, the deployment of the F-35 sends a message.

Moreover, the F-35 is the world’s only combat-ready fifth-generation fighter jet. It is possible to destroy enemy targets with the help of these aircraft, which can fly with explosives five times faster than sound. These aircraft can also dodge radar. Analysts say that the Pentagon has warned Iran by announcing the deployment of these planes to the Persian Gulf.
