Washington/New York – Saudi Arabia has warned that the situation in the Red Sea area can become uncontrollable due to the attacks on foreign ships by Houthi rebels in the area and action taken in response to it by the US. Besides, Saudi has also warned that if this happens, there will be an explosion of conflict in the region. In addition, Saudi has appealed to the United States to take steps to avoid this dangerous conflict. After Saudi, the UAE expressed concern about the conflict in the Gaza Strip. The UAE has also warned that the Biden administration should stop the Gaza conflict; otherwise, the extent of the conflict in the Gulf will escalate.
Attacks in Red Sea will go out of control and spark a conflictMoreover, the conflict between Israel and Hamas that has been going on for the last three months has reverberated in the Red Sea region. The Yemen-based Iran-linked rebel Houthi group has launched attacks on foreign ships carrying merchant traffic in the Red Sea. Also, US and British warships stationed in this sea area are responding to the Houthis. This conflict between the United States and Houthi has now become an everyday affair. However, claims have been made that fuel and trade traffic through the Red Sea region has been disrupted. Besides, fuel traffic from Jeddah port on the western side of Saudi Arabia is now claimed to be in crisis.
Attacks in Red Sea will go out of control and spark a conflictIn such a situation, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal has urged the US to take the initiative to reduce tensions in the Red Sea. At the same time, the Saudi Foreign Minister drew attention to the escalation of tension in the Gulf due to the conflict in the Red Sea. Prince Faisal expressed concern that due to the attacks of the Red Sea, they may have to travel through dangerous and difficult routes. Prince Faisal warned that if this happens, the Red Sea will lose the freedom of navigation, harming the international community.
While Saudi Arabia is putting pressure on the United States over the attacks by the Houthi rebels, another Arab-friendly country, the UAE, has also put pressure on the Biden administration. Nonetheless, the extent of the Gaza conflict is escalating every day. The UAE Ambassador to the United Nations appealed to the Biden administration to try for a ceasefire in Gaza to stop the conflict. Additionally, the UAE has criticised the Biden administration for not doing enough to stop the Gaza conflict. The UAE has also warned that if the Gaza conflict is not controlled in due time and aid is not provided to the Palestinians, the explosion of the Gaza conflict will create a dangerous situation.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are old allies of the US. However, US President Biden withdrew from military cooperation with Saudi Arabia and the UAE when he took over the reins of the United States. At the same time, serious allegations were also made against the leadership of Saudi. This had created tension between the US and Arab allies. The US had tried to put pressure on Saudi-UAE regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict. At the same time, now, in the backdrop of the Israel-Hamas conflict, two influential Gulf countries are seen trying to put pressure on the Biden administration.
