US deploys B-52 bombers to Middle East: US Central Command

Minot: The nuclear-powered US B-52H bombers, capable of flying for 14,000 km at a stretch, have arrived in the Middle East. US media has said that the deployment of bombers is meant to send a message to Iran, which has enriched uranium beyond the set limit. At the same time, an Israeli news channel claimed the US and Israel have prepared for a secret military operation in Iran. After the killing of senior Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani at the start of the year, the fleet of B-52 strategic bombers was sent to the Indian Ocean. The US Central Command or CENTCOM, which is responsible for US military operations in the Middle East, informed a fleet of US B-52H bombers and assisting planes had been sent to the Middle Eastern nations on Saturday.

B-52The CENTCOM has not released details on the number of warplanes or the country of deployment. However, the CENTCOM did say that the bombers were entrusted the responsibility of assuring the US allies and partnering nations by making the strategic bomber deployments in the least possible time. Only last week, interim US Defense Minister had announced the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and Iraq. In the next two months, the US will execute the exit, and the US media have thereby suggested the B-52H bombers have been urgently deployed to the Middle East. Also, the arrival of the bombers in the Middle East while US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is on a Qatar visit is believed to hint at a different strategy. On the other hand, US journalists and military analysts claim the deployment of B-52H bombers was linked to Iran.

B-52With the deployment of the B-52 bombers to the Middle East, the US has sent a clear message to Iran, which is threatening the Arab nations and has enriched uranium 12 times the set limit. US President Donald Trump had considered the alternative of attacking the Iranian nuclear facility at Natanz, and the deployment of the bombers is also being viewed against the backdrop. Earlier this year in January, a fleet of six B-52H bombers were deployed at Diego Garcia military base in the Indian Ocean, located 3,000 miles from Iran. The US had sent the warplanes after it sensed the threat from Iran following the killing of Qassem Soleimani. The military analysts believe the deployment of the US bombers in the Middle East is a strategic move.

In the meanwhile, US President Donald Trump’s term will end in less than two months. The US planned to add pressure over Iran by introducing fresh economic sanctions. Besides, an Israeli news channel has stated that the US and Israel have prepared for a secret military operation against Iran. Iran had already warned of waging deadly war if its nuclear program was attacked. On the sidelines of the developments, the gravity of reports emerging from the US and Israel have thus increased.
