Jerusalem: The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas is intensifying. Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza have fired more than 1,800 rockets and missiles at Israel. Israel responded by launching airstrikes on 650 locations in Gaza. At least 119 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes. The Israeli Armed Forces said over a hundred terrorists of Hamas and Islamic Jihad were among the dead.
An Egyptian official had arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel, to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and stop the bloodshed. However, he returned to his country after three days as the effort had failed. Therefore, neither Israel nor Hamas is ready to back down. The conflict is intensifying with each passing day. The international community has expressed fears that it is no longer a conflict, but a war between Israel and Palestinian organisations has begun.
In the last 24 hours, Israel has intensified its attacks on Gaza. The Israeli military said the artillery and tanks stationed at the borders fired hundreds of shells at Gaza. Furthermore, it claimed to have targeted Hamas and Islamic Jihad rocket launchers stationed in the northern and eastern parts of the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli military also acknowledged that some Palestinians had been killed in operation. “Before launching attacks, Israel had called on Palestinians to take refuge in safe places. However, as Hamas and Islamic Jihad blocked the movement of Palestinians, innocent civilians were also killed,” the Israeli military said. Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists of using the Palestinian people as human shields in the past as well. Therefore, attacks on Hamas and Islamic Jihad leads to the deaths of Palestinian civilians. Israeli diplomats say that Hamas is plotting to use the dreadful conspiracy to spread anti-Israel propaganda internationally.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad are continuously firing more than 100 rockets on the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv, Ashkelon and Ashdod. Also, Hamas has caused significant damage by carrying out a series of drone strikes on Israel’s extremely critical fuel plant in Ashkelon. Photographs of it have been published. In addition, Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades has also alleged launching a drone strike on a chemical plant in the town of Nir Oz near Gaza. Nevertheless, the Israeli military has not confirmed Hamas’s claim. A few hours ago, Hamas had fired 15 rockets near the Dimona nuclear facility in Israel.
Presently, forceful protests are taking place in Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iran supporting Palestinians against Israel. Protesters in Lebanon and Jordan tried to cross into the Israeli border. The Lebanese protesters had infiltrated the Israeli border, and incidents of arson have also been reported here. Nevertheless, the Israeli army responded in time and repulsed the protesters into Lebanon. Reports reveal the Jordanian army at the border beat the protesters and sent them back.
Meanwhile, Chancellor Angela Merkel has stated that she will not tolerate anti-Semitic protests in Germany. Moreover, Merkel denounced the rocket attacks on Israel as terrorist attacks by Hamas. France has also expressed its full support for Israel and banned anti-Israel protests in the country.
