Tel Aviv: “Israel is working hard to stop Hamas rocket attacks. However, if the attacks do not stop, Israel can take control of the Gaza Strip,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared. At the same time, Netanyahu said it is unclear as to when the conflict will end. In the presence of about 70 foreign diplomats, the Israeli prime minister issued a warning to Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other terrorist organizations in Gaza as well as to the entities backing them.
International human rights groups claim that 212 Palestinians have been killed in the last nine days of fighting between Israel and terrorist groups in Gaza. Also, the Israeli military said over 160 Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants were killed in its airstrikes. The military explains that Hamas rockets, which were fired but did not cross the Gaza border, had killed Palestinians. Moreover, Hamas has been using the people of Gaza as human shields, the military accused.
A few hours ago, Iran and Turkey, along with Hamas, blamed Israeli airstrikes for killing 11 members of the same family, including eight children. However, Hamas rockets were responsible for the deaths of these Palestinians, said Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus. In the wake of the allegations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a meeting of foreign diplomats and international journalists on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu firmly asserted that the Israeli military’s strikes in Gaza were “very precise and targeted Hamas.” The Israeli army took action only after the Palestinians had left the building or the site, and they have released videos that show the same, Netanyahu reminded. “In contrast, Hamas’s rocket attacks are targeting the Israeli civilians. The death of two Thai nationals in Tuesday’s attack is a glaring example of it,” the Israeli prime minister said. Therefore, Netanyahu accused Hamas of being the actual murderer.
The international media asked the Israeli prime minister when the conflict, ongoing for the past nine days, would end. “The Israeli army is not fighting a war with a stopwatch. We want to achieve the goals of the operation. The action will not stop until these are accomplished. Previous operations lasted a long time, so it is not possible to set a timeframe,” Netanyahu Prime Minister stated.
“Israel is taking action against Hamas, which has launched thousands of rocket attacks on Israel. Israel is trying to weaken Hamas through airstrikes. But if Hamas’s rocket attacks do not stop despite that, Israel could take control of Gaza,” Netanyahu warned. On Wednesday morning, Hamas launched rocket attacks on Israel’s Tel Nof airport. The attacks did not cause any damage in Israel. However, Israel did launch fierce attacks on Hamas locations in Gaza. According to reports, senior Hamas leader Mohammed Daif is being targeted by Israel.
Meanwhile, Al Qaeda-affiliated Hurras al-Din in Syria has instigated Gaza extremists to fight against Israel. What’s more, is that Al Qaeda has threatened militants to attack Israelis wherever they are cited across the globe.
