Iran should take Israel’s warnings more seriously: Former head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence service

Tel Aviv: Yossi Cohen, the former head of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, who retired a few days ago, made a shocking revelation in an interview with a local news channel. Cohen made a shocking offer to the interviewers to take them on a trip to the underground basement of Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, if possible. Also, Cohen hinted that Israel was responsible for the explosion at Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, saying that “Iran should have taken Israel’s warning that it will not allow Iran to become nuclear-armed more seriously.” In addition, the former Mossad chief also confessed to have executed the killing of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh during the interview.

इस्रायली गुप्तचर यंत्रणाYossi Cohen completed his term as the Director of Mossad last month. He has led Israel’s intelligence service for the past five years and is known as the most courageous director of Israel’s Mossad intelligence service. During his tenure, the Mossad infiltrated Iran and carried out extreme operations in other countries as well. These included operations to neutralise threats to Israel’s security from Iran, Hezbollah leaders and terrorists. Speaking to an Israeli news channel, Cohen described some of Mossad’s operations in indicative terms.

Cohen provided insights into the evidence on Iran’s nuclear program, the explosion at the Natanz nuclear facility, Fakhrizadeh’s killing, Mossad agents in Hezbollah, and cooperation with the UAE. “I am well acquainted with Iran’s nuclear program, and given the opportunity, I can take you on a tour of the Natanz nuclear facility. We could also show you the basement in which the work on the centrifuges is ongoing,’ Cohen told the female journalist interviewing him. At the same time, Cohen provided the crucial information that the centrifuges at Natanz were not working as effectively as before.

The interviewer, Ilana Dayan, stated that former Mossad head Yossi Cohen had not openly accepted responsibility for the Natanz blast. However, Cohen appears to have indirectly claimed responsibility for the explosion at Natanz by saying that ‘Iran should have taken Israel’s warning that it would not allow Iran to become nuclear-armed more seriously.” Ilana Diane, a well-known investigative journalist and interviewer in Israel, also described in brief how the explosion at the Natanz nuclear facility had occurred.

इस्रायली गुप्तचर यंत्रणाAn enormous amount of explosives was planted under the marble flooring at the Natanz facility where the centrifuges are located. It was carefully planned long ago that a marble foundation laden with explosives would be installed at Natanz over which centrifuges would be placed. Therefore, the work on Iran’s nuclear facility was revealed to have been underway for a long time. The former Mossad chief also explained that they had been keeping an eye on Fakhrizadeh, who had been working on Iran’s nuclear program, for years. Cohen also said that Mossad’s agents had approached Fakhrizadeh several times before his killing in November last year.

Former Mossad Director Cohen stated that ‘Not every enemy who is a threat to Israel’s security is killed. In some cases, if the enemy is willing to change career and will not hurt us anymore, then, yes, sometimes we offer them a way out,’ Cohen said. In addition, in January 2018, the process of retrieving 50,000 documents and 163 discs related to the nuclear program from a warehouse in the Iranian capital, Tehran, was ongoing for seven hours. For that, 32 safes were broken. By the time the information about the operation, carried out in the middle of the night, reached the Iranian authorities the following day, all the documents had reached the Mossad headquarters digitally. It involved 20 agents who were not Israeli and all of whom are safe even today.’

Cohen admitted that he had miscalculated the financial aid being provided to Gaza. ‘If the Palestinians in Gaza receive a better standard of living, their hatred of Israel will lessen & they would give up the rhetoric on war, I thought. That is why I tried to arrange for funding to the Palestinians in Gaza through Qatar. But my decision to provide financial assistance to Gaza was a mistake,’ Cohen said as he truthfully acknowledged his mistake. Besides, Yossi Cohen also supported the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the interview.
