US exit from Afghanistan inspired terrorists around the world

Washington/Kabul: ‘The Taliban winning the war in Afghanistan followed by a rushed exit by the United States is inspiring terrorists worldwide. The Taliban is saying, we just didn’t defeat the United States, we defeated NATO. We defeated the world’s greatest military power ever. So, there’s a celebration going on,’ said former CIA director Michael Morell as he slammed President Joe Biden and his administration. Following Morell, Leon Panetta, former US Secretary of Defence and ex-CIA chief rebuked President Biden. Panetta warned that President Biden should accept responsibility for his mistakes in Afghanistan and do what is necessary now to protect national security.

दहशतवाद्यांना प्रोत्साहनCriticism of President Biden and his administration has intensified since the retreat of US troops from Afghanistan. The UK and other NATO members had already expressed displeasure over the decision of US troop withdrawal. Former officials who held key positions during the conflict in Afghanistan are now castigating Biden’s administration, and Morell’s statements also seems a part of it. Michael Morell has served as former President Bill Clinton’s Chief of Staff and the CIA’s Acting Director under the Obama administration.

Morell mentioned a video of Al Qaeda chief Ayman Al-Zawahiri and claimed that it proved the Taliban is harbouring him and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Morell also warned that Al Qaeda could reconstruct within a year if the US did not make the right decisions on Afghanistan. The ex-CIA director further noted that the safe haven for Al Qaeda in Afghanistan is a long-term security threat.

‘Now that there is no US military presence in Afghanistan, it will be difficult to take action against Al Qaeda,’ Morell said. Besides, he pointed out that ‘Following the Taliban win and the retreat of the United States, Afghanistan will once again become a terrorist central. Many of them will come, and soon we will see an influx of terrorists in Afghanistan.’

Meanwhile, former US Secretary of Defense and ex-CIA chief Leon Panetta has targeted President Biden again. ‘President Biden should demonstrate a willingness to readily accept the responsibility for the mistakes associated with the withdrawal in Afghanistan. It is imperative to accept these mistakes and make the necessary decisions to protect the security of the United States,’ Panetta reprimanded Biden. Last month, Panetta warned that the US military would need to go back to Afghanistan to combat terrorist organizations. US Senator Lindsey Graham had issued a similar warning.
