Washington/Kabul: Senator Ted Cruz strictly denounced President Joe Biden, saying we will see American blood spilt because Biden had made colossal strategic mistakes over the Afghanistan issue. While justifying the withdrawal from Afghanistan, President Biden said that there was no need to keep troops in the country after defeating Al Qaeda. However, there have been persistent warnings since the past few days of Al Qaeda’s reactivation and the increased threat of terrorist attacks. As he expressed these fears, Senator Cruz targeted Biden holding him responsible for it.
US Secretary of the State Antony Blinken appeared for a hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the issue of withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan. After the hearing, Sen. Cruz targeted the Biden administration for the ‘Afghan disaster’ with a barrage of criticism. Sen. Cruz drew attention to four decisions of the Biden administration, warning that they would prove detrimental to US security. ‘The first big mistake was abandoning the Bagram airfield and handing it over to the Taliban before evacuating the Americans and Afghans. One hundred years from now, that decision will be studied at war colleges as a colossal strategic mistake,’ Cruz claimed.
Sen. Cruz expressed his concerns as he said, ‘The Biden administration abandoned thousands of American and Afghan civilians behind the Taliban lines. Furthermore, American military equipment worth billions of dollars was left behind for the Taliban. The Taliban would use these weapons to threaten American lives in the near future. The decision of handing over a list of Americans and Afghans, whom the administration was trying to evacuate from Afghanistan to the Taliban, was terrible.’ Concurrently, Cruz said there were reports of trafficking child brides among the Afghani evacuees and instances of sexual coercion too.
Sen. Cruz launched crushing criticism at Biden administration and claimed that ‘The US Secretary of State has admitted these things at the hearing. All these decisions of the Biden administration display their incompetence and extremist ideology. These colossal mistakes by the administration could, unfortunately, spill American blood in the future.’ He further added that ‘The Taliban regime is a vicious terrorist organisation that can never form a government in a country as a part of civil society. On the contrary, due to the Biden administration’s catastrophic mistakes in Afghanistan, Americans are much more at risk for deadly attacks by the Taliban and Al Qaeda.’
