Kabul – The Taliban has threatened the United States. ‘We fought the US because they did not recognise us in the past. Our message to America is if unrecognition continues, Afghan problems continue. It is the region’s problem and could turn into a problem for the world,’ said Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid. The warning has been issued against the backdrop of the G20 summit that began in Italy. A few days ago, the Taliban threatened the United States alongside Europe to release the Afghan refugees if they did not recognise the Taliban.

तालिबानला मान्यताBesides, it has been two months since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. But, neither any country nor international organisation has recognised the Taliban regime. India, the US, the UK and the European Union have announced humanitarian aid for the Afghan people. However, no country has come forward to recognise the Taliban regime yet. Thus, disturbed by this, the Taliban has started issuing a series of threats to the US and Western countries.

On Saturday, while speaking to the media, Taliban chief spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid warned the countries that refuse to recognise the Taliban regime. Mujahid recalled the conflict that erupted between the US and the Taliban two decades ago. The US had demanded that the Taliban hand over Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda, who was responsible for the 9/11 attacks on them. But, the Taliban rejected the US demand. Earlier, the US had refused to recognise the Taliban regime, Mujahid said. Therefore, terrorist organisations in Afghanistan may attack Western countries soon. If the US and other countries want to avoid this, they should recognise the Taliban’s regime in Afghanistan, Mujahid suggested.

Former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh lashed out at the Taliban threat. ‘The Taliban’s message is that if the international community recognises us, we will behave less cruelly. But, if they refuse to recognise, we would exhibit barbarism. We will massacre greatly, violate human rights. Taliban is imitating Pakistan. Even Pakistan warns to misbehave if not offered dollars by Western nations.’ Saleh slammed against this threat.

Meanwhile, India, the US, the UK and the European Union have sternly warned that they will not accept the Taliban unless they agree to the terms of the Doha agreement. Correspondingly, Russia and Iran have also said it is not the right time to recognise the Taliban. Even Pakistan and China, which have been cooperating Taliban, have not openly endorsed the Taliban regime. Even though Pakistan and China are urging other countries to take the initiative, they could not show the courage to take this decision. In such a scenario, the Taliban would amplify problems by threatening the US and Western countries.
