The proliferation of Omicron variants has led to fearful situations in many countries across the globe. The number of Coronavirus patients in the US, the world’s leading economy, has begun to reach a new high. Last week, more than 1 million patients had been registered in the US over 24 hours. While the total number of victims has crossed more than eight lakhs 38 thousand, the number of deaths due to Coronavirus has gone beyond 1,900.

There is an addition of a huge number of patients; in Europe following the US. The number of patients found daily has crossed a hundred thousand milestones in Spain following the UK and France. As many as 292,000 patients were registered in Spain on Monday. This is the record number of patients found in Europe in 24 hours. More than a hundred thousand patients have been detected every day in the UK, too. The number of patients in France; is also said to be somewhere around a hundred thousand. More than 50% of Europe’s population will be infected with Omicron in the next two months if the growing trend of patient numbers in Europe continues, the WHO has warned. In the first week of the new year, more than seven million Coronavirus patients have been found in Europe.

Meanwhile, China had declared a lockdown in the city of Anyang. It has been revealed that nearly 20 million of the population in China are stuck in lockdown following this announcement. It has been informed that restrictions were imposed as Omicron variant patients were found in the city. China has imposed restrictions on rounds of passenger flights coming from the US; in the wake of the growing number of Coronavirus patients. In the last seven days, rounds of about 60 passenger flights to and from the US have been cancelled.

Although the Coronavirus’s new Omicron variant appears to be milder than the earlier Delta variant, economists have predicted that it will significantly affect the global economy. Experts at Northeastern University in the United States have warned that in this year, the economic growth rate along with the stock market, job opportunities and the global supply chain will face hard hits.
