Russia to soon take full control of Ukrainian province, Luhansk

Moscow / Kyiv – Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that Luhansk, part of the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, will soon be under Russian control. In the last few days, Russian forces have hit hard the key cities in Luhansk. The hits have forced Ukrainian troops to withdraw with Russia’s escalation of repression, admits Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Meanwhile, the withdrawal of the Ukrainian forces from the Mariupol steel factory is said to have been completed.  

लुहान्स्क प्रांतMoreover, last month, Russia informed that it had launched the second phase of a military operation in Ukraine. The second phase will seize the area from Donbas in eastern Ukraine to the border with neighbouring Moldova; a senior Russian official had indicated. Accordingly, Russian forces had stepped up attacks in Donbas by redesigning their deployments in Ukraine. It has emerged that they are getting success. It has come to the fore that Russia has seized control of most of the area of Donetsk and Luhansk provinces, which are a part of the Donbas.  

Russian forces have strongly fired missiles, rockets and cannons at the chief cities of Lysychansk and Severodonetsk in Luhansk in the past few days. The town of Bakhmat in Donetsk, a Ukrainian military base, has also been heavily attacked. Ukraine informed that 12 civilians had been killed and several others injured in an attack on Severodonetsk. Besides, Russia’s Defence Minister Shoigu claimed that Luhansk province would soon be liberated from Ukraine.  

Ukraine’s President Zelensky has also been forced to take note of Russia’s aggressive attacks. Russian forces have destroyed the Donbas region, and Russia has transformed the area into hell, Zelensky reacted. In addition to Donbas, the Ukrainian President informed that Russia had launched missile attacks in Chernihiv, north of the capital Kyiv, Odesa in the south, and central Ukraine. Zelensky also said that the Chernihiv missile attack had caused heavy casualties.  

Meanwhile, the international organisation Red Cross has informed that Ukrainian soldiers at the Maripol steel factory who have surrendered in front of Russia will be rated as prisoners of war. So far, 1,908 Ukrainian soldiers have surrendered, many of them are being treated in Russian hospitals.
