Russian army launches crushing attacks in eastern and southern Ukraine

Moscow/Kyiv: Western media and analysts claimed that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine could cool down after the harsh winter begins. But in reality, it seems that their attacks on one other are intensifying. It has come to light that Russia has carried out crushing attacks in eastern and central Ukraine in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, Ukraine targeted a base of the Wagner Group, a Russian private military company of contractors. At the same time, Ukraine has claimed that 200 soldiers of Russia were killed in the attack in Zaporizhzhia.

crushing attacks

Russia has launched new offensives in southern and central Ukraine in recent days. Grad rockets hit central Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region on Sunday, along with tanks and artillery, after targeting the port of Odesa on Saturday. The attacks have damaged infrastructure, including some military sites in Ukraine.

On the other side, Russia is also launching heavy attacks on Eastern Ukraine. Russia has reportedly deployed a tank division from Kherson to eastern Ukraine. Bakhmut, a strategic town in Donetsk, is also said to be besieged by Russian forces. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has admitted that the fighting on the eastern front is getting tougher by the day.

Along with Russia, Ukraine has continued to increase the scope of its counter-attacks. In the last 48 hours, Ukrainian forces launched attacks in Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Crimea. Ukraine also targeted a Russian military base in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia province, in its rocket attacks. Also, Ukrainian authorities claimed that nearly 200 Russian soldiers were killed in the attack.

The Ukrainian military destroyed a hotel in a rocket attack in Kadiivka, Luhansk region. Ukrainian officials claimed the hotel was a base for the Wagner Group, a private military company based in Russia. Scores of people lost their lives in the attack. However, its statistics have not been released. The Ukrainian army had previously claimed that it had blown up the bases of the Wagner group. After Luhansk, the Russian base in the town of Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia was also targeted. At least 200 Russian soldiers were claimed to have been killed.

Meanwhile, in the last three days, two large malls near Moscow, the capital of Russia, have been destroyed by fire. Last week, a MEGA Khimki shopping centre was engulfed in flames and destroyed after it caught fire. One person was killed in the incident. Photographs were released of a huge fire which broke out in ‘Storypark Mall’ in Balashikha early on Monday morning. Some Russian media have claimed that Ukraine is behind the fire in both malls. In the wake of these attacks on Russia, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated that Russian companies had increased the quantity and speed of production of advanced weapons.
