US Senator Lindsey Graham has demanded that the US take the tough decision of shooting down Russian fighter jets in the future. Graham claimed that Ronald Reagan would have done the same if he had been president of the United States. ‘But if Russian planes are attacked, it will be considered a declaration of war; Senator Graham wants to start a nuclear war between the US and Russia,’ Russia’s ambassador to the US criticized.
US’s ‘MQ-9 Reaper’ drone was patrolling in the international zone of the Black Sea, and the US is alleging that a Russian warplane shot down the drone at that time. However, Russia disclosed that the drone was not in international territory. At the same time, there are clear indications that Russia and the US are taking precautions so that this matter does not escalate. Some in the US have warned that the US should not take the initiative in the Ukraine war to the point of igniting a direct military conflict with Russia. However, anti-Russian groups in the US are expressing their displeasure with President Biden and his administration, saying they are showing weakness.

Anatoly Antonov, Russia’s Ambassador to the US, accused Senator Graham of wanting to start a nuclear war between the US and Russia.
‘Attempting to shoot down Russian fighter jets would be considered a declaration of war. It will lead to a war between Russia and the US, which would transform into a nuclear war. Did the American voters elect Senator Graham because he wanted a nuclear war?’ the Russian ambassador said as he raised the question.
Meanwhile, even after Russia shot down the drone, the US is not ready to react aggressively at the official level. On the contrary, because of this, some members of the US Congress have started saying that it is time to think about how much further the US should go in the war in Ukraine. Russia has criticized that the US has shown the world it is directly involved in the Ukraine conflict by launching its drones in the Black Sea area. However, this has revealed that Russia and the US are being cautious that they will not have a direct military clash in this war at any cost.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu have started discussions over the incident. Therefore, both nations appear to be exercising caution not to let the matter exacerbate. Nevertheless, concerns are being raised worldwide that if an incident of this nature occurs in the future, it will not take long for it to turn into a conflict. Russia had already warned about it many times.
